Rick Ross is the surprise top trending music artist in the UK.
The rapper tops Twitter's end of year list, while social networking favourites One Direction, The Wanted and Justin Bieber don't feature in the Top 10.
"Trends are the topics for which we see noteworthy spikes in Twitter conversations," the micro-blogging site explained. "The 2012 Trends reveal what captured our attention, rather than what terms were consistently popular."
While Rick Ross tops the list, Nicki Minaj lands in second place and Taylor Swift comes third.
Lana Del Rey lands at four, JLS at five and Madonna is at eight after connecting with fans for the first time on the site earlier this year.
"A surprise first place in this year's music trends went to Rick Ross," Twitter stated. "The US star may not be as well known this side of the pond as UK acts like Jessie J and JLS, but he's certainly found a dedicated follower base on Twitter.
"And there was even a spot for the queen of pop herself, Madonna."
