Exactly. They just "protect" the church from being forced to perform same sex marriages, while allowing them to be performed in registry offices. Because this was the main obstacle: if Gay Marriage is recognized, then the Church would have to perform them by law. But now, if it's "illegal", then the Church wouldn't object the Gay Marriage as hard (or won't object it at all).

I think this is reasonable, the Church have their laws and values which are important to them!...If same-sex marrige is to be legalised but we'd have to marry outsidr the church, I'd be all fine with that!
