Should Google put more money into Google Translate?
I've always felt like Google kinda neglects Translate when it's one of their most used services and its notorious in spanish classes for how wrong it can be. Google definitely has the money for it so they should recruit some language teachers and translators from all around the world and make it a lot more accurate. They could put an ad or two on the page, charge a lot to be featured, and just make bank. If it was accurate and they could find a way to form sentences based on, for example, Spanish 1 2 or 3 level, it'd be a even bigger hit.
I've noticed there aren't many good sentence translators for a lot of languages so Google could change that. It does kinda suck with a lot of words now so it'll need a lot of work but this could be their secret weapon to adding more revenue.

But you don't always need to learn a language. What if you just need it quickly to speak to someone in an emergency? I think we all know that Spanish/French/Latin classes in high school don't actually help anybody become fluent. You'd have to actually go to a place where regularly speak that language.
Machine translation is very complicated, it's not just a matter of throwing more money at it. It will never be possible to always generate a sensible translation.
