Bloody hell, there's pretty much no point in being picky over who can be a model nowadays (other than stubborn couture labels) since photographic skill is undermined by imaging software skill. It's obsessive though, I've seen people feel the need to 'fix' photos so much when there is little or no need.
Well, I think it's a good thing in the sense that I think models should reflect society because clothes are supposed to fit everyone and people come in varied shapes and sizes but yes, it's sad that looks are so important and expectations are so high. The ability to manipulate images/videos to the above extent is technically impressive (and very helpful in other areas from art to medicine) but is unfortunately blinding many in ignorance to reality, raising expectation, doesn't help overall self esteem and puts pressure on those in such media forms to look as they do once 'fixed'. People are to blame though as well of course, many still believe things such as underarm hair being nasty and should be removed when its vital for glandular control, or women having body hair being nasty and unnatural or men wearing make up being laughable (when it's common for men in the media e.g. men in televised interviews/commercials/shows/photoshoots) etc so when they see manipulated images/videos that are more than just enhanced, many feel the need to judge reality by the same standards.
