I see it differently. They hit Mariah with the okie doke in my opinion. She publicly rejected the xfactor gig when they were wooing her in. To be fair, Nick had health issues too but Mariah rejected xfactor and then AI began salivating. They got Randy on her and they wooed her over promising a promotion tool for her new record and for her to be the highest paid judge on this type of show surpassing britney's 15M for her to get 18M. They didn't tell her that she would be the only female she just assumed that because she is such a magnificent diva that it would be understood that she would not have female competition. She didn't care who else whether it was a random country dude as long as she would get the spotlight. Well, as rumors persist that Nicki was in the running she started to see that she was played. Nicki was nervous but assumed that it would be cool with Mariah as they always had a good relationship and had no issues. I'm sure she thought the country guy was harmless and Randy too. Then Mariah started taking jabs at Nicki because Nicki was giving great feedback and giving AI what they wanted: excitement, exuberance, fiestiness, sass but an on point critique (she did this with her guess judging on America's next top model). Basically, the opposite as boring as f. Mariah (though I love her) reacted like an aging diva that saw her plan to capitalize on this for her album promotion and be the center of attention was being taking away a bit from a younger artist that is the most controversial artist at this moment. That said, Nicki started seeing it and was trying to surpress her feelings. Then she let it build up and the rest is history.
The video clearly shows Nicki trying to deal with the jabs and I think AI is siding with her and wants to show the story so that people can at least understand from Nicki's point of view. Will it change the mind of the naysayers, not really? But kudos to AI for having Nicki's back.
AI wins because
AI gets the spotlight on them and will probably have record breaking ratings/viewership
Nicki gets exposure and AI will certainly show her being amazing as a judge. She has the chance to win over a large public that might be questioning her without the full story. I'm sure this will be the beginning of damage control to her image. MM will get promo, too. She created a buzz for them and got major backlash but you go through alot with a $12M price tag. She instilled fear in Mariah and I bet Mariah hasn't AND will not try to throw a shady jab again.
Mariah gets exposure, she will continue to play the diva victim character. Not sure it will impact her album project that was pushed back but she will perform on idol and use it as a tool of promotion.
