So I noticed some people calls themselves by their own derogatory and racial term. (Racist terms labeling a race). So I wanted to ask if you guys think its okay to call yourself this term if you are that race. In my opinion its stupid but I wanna see what you guys think.

It's taking the power away from the people who use it against you. Obviously if you call yourself a word other people use against you, you're not using it in the same way, thus re-appropriating the word and taking the power away from those who do use it against you.

Theres the context of decades of hatred still attached to each word for many though, especially for those being bullied with those words still - which makes the idea of using them for "appropriation" er...tacky...IMO. I dunno...nevermind.

Non-minority people (generally white people) think they should be allowed to "have" everything and they throw a fit when they're told otherwise. Well, too bad, minorities can use their own slurs among themselves and you can't. Get over it.

I'd never call myself a WOP, out of respect to parents and grandparents who were called that in a derogatory way. Some words should just be eliminated altogether.

Realistically, I know they can't be eliminated. However, its use should be discouraged, especially by those to whom it refers.
