Footage from this video is filmed by Jessica Earnshaw, who went on the tour for the purposes of recording it all, and is one of Alexz's best friends. I know from watching the video the Los Angeles tour stop is there, and when she played The Basement as well. Two other tour stops are featured but I'd have to look up where they come from.

I was at her NY show during this tour and Skipping Stone live was my favorite part, EVERYONE was singing along. I bought all of her merch and had her sign the t-shirt and I wear it all the time at work to promo her. lol

This tour focused on her "Skipping Stone" EP, which she put out earlier this year. You can find all her music, as far as I know, on iTunes/Amazon.

In 2010 she put on an independent album called Voodoo. Today she'll bring up a song or two from it on her set list, this time around it was the song "Voodoo" on the above tour. Link

Finally, and covering the rest of the songs on this tour, Alexz was briefly signed with Epic Records many years back. Due to Amanda Ghost, through a change in management over her head far above in an executive position(I think CEO) Alexz was dropped from the label and her album she recorded with them was shelved.

That album was called "Weight".

You can't buy the album online anywhere, though some fans have put together correct track listings of what it would have been. These are the songs on the shelved album:

You'll find a handful of these songs were used on her tour. The entire album is basically a fan favorite.

I'll touch briefly on this, but while she was with Epic and Capitol Records with her brother Brenden, they wrote and recorded a lot of things that didn't get released until very recently. These songs are on the albums The Basement Recordings and The Basement Recordings 2. What's unique to this set is that it's material she wrote specifically with her brother. Definitely worth looking into if you're a fan.

Things that aren't in these areas that you'll likely find first will be music she did on Instant Star. She was the star of the show and almost every episode has a song and it ran for 4 seasons on Teen Nick. It's ok material to me, but her own material(the above stuff) is much better.

You'll find some co-writes and duets as well. She's worked with Jimmy Robbins, Megan & Liz, Bleu, Greg Wells, Demo Castellon, and many, many more.

Thank you so much for taking the time to run all this down! I think I remember her from one of the Final Destination movies! It's the blonde hair that threw me off, because she used to be a redhead. I really love her voice and I could see myself enjoying her music.

I'm on spotify listening to Voodoo right now and it's really good! It's looking like an iTunes purchase for me, along with the EP.

If you can do it, do yourself a favor and see her perform live. She is incredible. It's also not too difficult now to meet her. I've met her tons of times and she is VERY sweet, laid back, and genuine. She has shows in Los Angeles and Boston coming up in the next 2 weeks.

Ha the girl from instant star, thought then another series for children but it was quite good something different.

She has some serious pipes and great talent no one here from a major labei or does she like it more quite?

If America is on the search for the own new Adele (not a Soul Adele but a Rock Adele) she could deliver it with the right management, I think she writes alone but with prof. co-writer nothing wrong with it and a producer like Rick Rubin

She's worked so hard to get this far. I don't think she'd go back to a Major label anymore, not after seeing what she can do on her own. Plus, without all the hands(Execs, Label, etc) on her incoming money she gets to keep most of it.

If you think Alexz sounds good recorded you haven't seen her live. This live album is as close as you can get to actually hearing her in concert. Crisp audio too. Her passion is behind her voice in everything she sings.

This is also a good way to get familiar with Alexz's music since this partcular concert(Los Angeles and last stop of the tour) uses a lot of the songs from the her history as I outlined in a previous post above.

She opens with "Weight" and if she doesn't have you by the lyrics "Why can't I?" there is no hope for you

She needs a label.

I think, in my opinion, she's disenchanted with labels, especially the Majors. She was on Epic Records AND on Capitol Records in the past. She's dealt with execs trying to direct and change her sound, clash with her creativity, and I'm sure tell her what kind of music to make.

She's older and much wiser now and I think she's enjoying being indie and running every part of her career, top to bottom, booking backup band members to running the business side, on her own. Now that she knows what she can do, how much she can handle, I don't think she'll want to give up that kind of control any time soon. She now knows she can do a lot of things labels would do for her(and also want a substantial cut of her money) on her own.

I am almost 100% sure she's had 2nd chances with her past labels and many chances recently, due to her Kickstarter, to go back to some Majors since she's shown she has a loyal fan base and proved she can make money. Hit her Kickstarter goal in a single after all. She just chooses to be indie right now.

^ I agree with you. They just need to find a way to start booking her on major shows to perform, and release a single that can both earn mainstream radio play and be placed in TV & film.

She has the talent, the music, and the hardcore fanbase, her team just needs to start playing the game a bit more traditionally.

It's basically just her and some people she's recruited. For what she's accomplished with just that I think she's doing really well. I'm sure you know she was managed by Stephen Stohn at one point. He got her albums in retail stores and booked her on some high profile morning shows and even interviews on MuchMusic. I don't know. Maybe it didn't work because she wasn't getting those same gigs in America.

She also definitely can't pay radio stations to play her music. Some stations do play her songs from time to time(I hear they're mostly in Canada) so she is pushing through, at a slow pace, but she is getting there.

I think if she keeps doing what she's doing she'll fully break through. Right now she has few, if any, fair weather fans. These people believe in her and want to help her get there. You'll know she's broken through fully when tons of bandwagoners suddenly appear out of thin air proclaiming they've always loved her and her music
