She could have had a really great pop follow up single to that but she ****ed up her respectability with that entire second half. I love her for reverting back though. It's never too late.

EXACTLTY!
She's ADMITTING her mistakes, and people want to act new like she hasn't said it herself.
That said, in the interview Mmminaj just posted, she said she didn't expect to win a Grammy for PF. She know what she has to do to win a Grammy.

How is this true?
Sure Starships hurt her urban support and image/respect but it made all of her business ventures this year more possible and it opened her to a WW market that will get to decide with the next record if they want to stay on board.
Not to mention that it's made her a more visible star so that when she does make a more heartfelt album next go round the Grammy's may actually take note.
But I do agree with you on the idea that she should have stuck with SB-style pop. Regardless, the dance has done some stuff for her career and she's realized now that's not the lane she should stick in. At least she had some fun - the whole original goal.

The shade being thrown at her tonight is making me sad. Mildly.

To be honest, I'm really disappointed and upset Nicki received no Grammy nominations. Her bizarre choice not to submit in various categories is a total misfire. It is even clearer that her pop career has negatively impacted her hip-hop credibility too.
Nicki isn't cut out for both a pop and hip-hop career. As hip-hop came first, she should just go back to that. Have the odd crossover, but anticipate everything else to revert.
As much as I love Nicki's pop songs, almost all of them could be released by other artists and promoted properly to critical and commercial acclaim. That sucks but is true.
If Nicki wants to continue her pop career, and muster acclaim with it, she needs to look at how her peers Katy Perry and Rihanna build their albums and promotional efforts. They both have "generic" songs but also have a variety of pop sounds and lyrics that showcase their artistry.
If Nicki wants to stay in pop, tracks like Save Me, Masquerade and Marilyn Monroe are your 2nd singles, not just album tracks. You need to have a more cohesive and less jarring sound. And you should make an effort to promote, always.
The fact Grammy honoured so many dance-pop songs, some that can be considered generic, indicates the issue lies in Nicki not having the right attitude and approach to pop. I doubt she ever will.
So dear Nicki Minaj - no more pop music. Better to excel at something, than punch above your weight and be a non-event.

Olivia Nope. @ErykahWest
Injustice! RT @TriniTrent: Why didn't @NickiMinaj get a Grammy nomination? Is it because she's a little black girl who raps? Racists!

This makes me sad
I have to agree though. She excels at Hip-Hop. Not every artist is built for Pop, especially when said artist does both genres that are total opposites.
I really like this post, and for once I agree with everything you said.

Still see her trying with pop though, so whatever.
We are such a flop fanbase. Don't support anything. Would never see Beyonce or Gaga or Rihanna fans behaving like we do.
Truth is, the first half of PF:RR did f**k all for her brand too, so Reed can sit his ass down.
2nd half made her an international brand. Seethe.

Willy - you're meant to best represent the ATRL Barbz, and you're letting yourself down.
Generic rap is just as tacky as generic pop. So just stop already.
