I am not a Christian (or any faith, really), but I still celebrate Christmas, and have no problem with it. It's just a generic phrase people say, so as to not offend like Jewish people or anyone else who wouldn't celebrate Christmas because of their personal beliefs. But most people just use Merry Christmas anyway I guess

You know, whatever way you spin it, CHRISTmas is a Christian holiday. You can't erase the religious undertones no matter how much you try to secularize it. Take Christmas carols for instance, Silent Night, Oh Come All Ye Faithful etc... So he is right in a sense. I wish people a Merry Christmas because that's the holiday I celebrate. I don't get offended of someone wishes me a Happy Hanukkah if they're Jewish. You need some cultural sensitivity at some point.
