For people with aspergers, how'd you know you had it? (Before being diagnosed)
And do you think I may have it? Here are some of my symptoms:
-Have a formal style of speaking that is advanced for his or her age.
-Avoid eye contact or stare at others.
-Have unusual facial expressions or postures.
-Be preoccupied with only one or few interests, which he or she may be very knowledgeable about.
-Talk a lot, usually about a favorite subject.
-One-sided conversations are common.
-Internal thoughts are often verbalized.
-Have delayed motor development.
-Handwriting is often messy.
Have heightened sensitivity and become overstimulated by loud noises, lights, or strong tastes or textures.

I do absolutely everything in that list. (except maybe the handwriting)...
the physiologist diagnosed me when I was 12, I was so socially awkward + I was bullied in school.
I guess I'm over it now, I've improved a lot but I still have difficulties making friends and having long term relationships with my (now) ex boyfriends because I'm not really into showing affect.
I guess the "pop ate my heart" works for me, because the only thing I really care and want to talk about is music.
Just the other day, I heard my mom say over the phone that I might be autistic in the long run and I was like
I got diagnosed by a psychologist, there are plenty of test you can take online (I don't know if they're reliable though) the best way to know it's going to an especialist.

IMO it's overdiagnosed to prevent people who are just socially awkward from both getting hurt and having to make more of an effort at changing, just like ADD and ADHD has "suddenly" seen an upsurge as more people born in a generation known to dedicate time to themselves rather than others begins to parent.
