I don't think so. At the very least they should sing with/over loud playback and back-up vocals and do some ad-libs so you can still hear something a little different between performances than just the same pre-recorded track.

Yes but still, I don't use more than once a performance that's lip-synched no matter how good it is, with of course a couple of exceptions. Like VMA's 'Vogue' which was more of a theatrical performance, still I mostly never use lip-synched performances, I feel cheated when I watch them.

Exactly. What's the point of paying/watching a performance when the artist is lip syncing? Unless they give a circus show then it's not worth it.
