For starters they can limit the amount of tax deductions a person can get to 75,000 anything more is a ridiculous number. They can get rid of tax credits for those who own a private jet. They can charge the same tax rate to those making money off the stock market as those making moneyfrom a pay check. They can stop giving tax credits to oil companies who are already making insane profits.
For spending they can reduce defense spending significantly since we're ending the war on terror and withdrawing lots of troops. We can also reduce spending on extra unnecessary programs.
I'd also get rid of bush' tax cuts for the wealthy.
That'd what I do for starters in addition to what the other poster said. It may not be super easy but there are a lot of obvious ways to start cutting back on.
