Manila auditions for the new Kim ended last week and some people who passed the final round are a mess.
As sad as it is, there's such a shortage of qualified Asian female singers/actresses in comparison to most other races in America. I'm worried for the movie, since we don't really have major Hollowood Asian stars that could pull off the main parts. All the white roles are gonna have to be bigger stars to compensate.

Miss Saigon is a huge musicale and can carry itself without major stars. The hype alone will generate huge buzz for the movie. But everyone who's attached to it may wanna see Lea Saonga in it as well. She's very identified with the play and her personification is just flawless. Anyone who will have to step to the charcater she gave life will have a hard time keeping up. With that said, the story and production is no doubt will be massive, but the Kim has to be that girl. They need to find a replacement that's as good as Lea. Otherwise, it'll fail.
