Look at Michelle Branch

Did you forget about The Wreckers? Michelle sings pretty much the same type of music as Kelly Clarkson back then and now she's into Country. And The Wreckers is actually quite big. Not as big as Carrie Underwood, but still....big!

So stop complaining. I could never...NEVER see Michelle singing Country in my life time...but she pulled it off pretty well.

I prefer Kelly not to do this, since Country is so boring, but if she does, she'll do fine.

Last checked, set aside the somewhat-slow decline, Never Again is still in the top 20 and has been there since its release.

I think Kelly could do very well with country here in the US. With her large mark still well alive from the 2nd album (Breakaway) in conjunction to her already big name and how well this genre is consumed by the US audience (most of whom are along the southward side of the states and are more likely to legally buy the album from my view), she could potentially match what Carrie has going on right now. (But I'm not going to go in and compare these two ladies against each other for various reasons, including the fact that Underwood has yet to push out her 2nd album.)

I myself have been getting/slowly growing into some country music myself; I'd give her a few shots.
Truthfully, I hope she releases this new album next year. (Kind of what Ludacris and Rihanna have been doing; putting an album out per calender year, which keeps their real fans going even though sales may not be quite as big.)

I agree with Travis, but I do hope the next project isn't full on country. I feel like this album was just something that she had to get off her chest, somewhat of a self indulgence, and the next project is going to be a more commercial endeavor. I hope so at least. I really like to see Kelly do well...whether or not she says she likes it, it's her livelihood and she doesn't want to end up broke someday like...Wilson Phillips or something.

^you make a really, really good point. there needs to be a balance between what the musician wants and what listeners want. kelly is in this business to sell records--that's her job!! expressing her emotions through her art is just a privilege that she earned after her first 2 records were a success. if My December bombs, she may have that privilege taken away.

I think My December is just a piece of good music...just listen to Sober, Judas or Hole! It has a big potencial to becoming big, in my opinion! She has to do the right promo and all!
And the idea of a country album doesn't sound that bad..

IF bon jovi can do a country album kelly can do a country album cause look at because of you with reba it's at #17 so i think she would do good in country music
