Earlier this year, I was complaining of pain near my liver and decided to see the doctor about it. After a sonogram, they discovered it was related to kidney stones (which I've known about since I was 15 but never officially diagnosed since I never passed one).
I went to a urologist, had a few scans done and I was told that aside from the kidney stones, I had a UPJ obstruction which is basically a blockage in kidney/ureter caused by scar tissue. Apparently I was "born this way" which I found ironic since I'm a Gaga stan.
Anyway, I had laparoscopic pyeloplasty (which is surgery to correct the obstruction) late August of this year and pretty much fully recovered. In a few months I will find out if the surgery actually worked or if the condition reversed. That would be a bitch, because I really do not want surgery again.
Oh and if I didn't get the surgery done, I would continue having extreme kidney pain and would eventually have lost my right kidney because of it so it's something that wasn't optional.
