Sounds like they knew she was a risk, so it was their risk to take. And it also sounds like the airlines actually did try to accommodate her, several times. The denying a flight home was bs, but it didn't kill her: would it have been impossible to get her to an emergency room somewhere in Europe?
This whole thing is a little fishy.
