red will outsell 4/7 rihanna albums combined stateside by the end of the year
anyways im just pointing out the lie in the op
Well it depends on the definition of "owning 2012" or who's definition were using. The OP should've specified as I didn't really see any huge domination by any artist. Fun and Carly had a few big singles which is good for new artists. Gotye and psy had massive songs. Taylor got her first #1 single as well as big album sales. Rihanna got 2 #1 singles this year and got her first #1 album but I wouldn't say either owned this year. Taylor got much bigger sales but rihanna got much bigger airplay. This also is only exclusive to us, ignoring WW where Taylor isn't as popular while rihanna is.
What did Taylor do other than get a #1 single? Adele really died off by April too.
I wouldn't say rihanna owned 2012. In fact I'd say fun. Had a top 10 hit playing through almost the entire year. However I'm not really sure anyone owned 2012. I'd guess rihanna would be close to the top, if not the top but it's hardly a clean cut winner as it was with Adele in 2011 or Gaga in 2009/2010 or rihanna in 2007/2008.

Lol, all of her singles after we found love underperformed, she didn't tour, etc. This definitely wasn't her year. The delusion caused for that #1 album is going to far . She's had better years.
