The Beckys are having their moment right now with the radio dominance of electro and pure pop. Let's not forgot that women of color dominated top 40 music for most of the past decade. They will have their time again soon.

How does Nicki? I don't think she does, at least not since she "went pop." She's sexual but not in the same (stereotypical) way as Rih. And that's why she's gotten so much stupid backlash this year.

I feel like there was more space for it before, tbh. Although the ones that got away with being "innocent and fluffy" were usually more R&B-leaning, or had R&B roots (Shanice, Janet, Brandy, etc).
