The new Hybird country chart which Bill Werde and a lot of Taylor Swift fans would had you believe that all her songs would be top ten all year wrong.
But that prediction never came true.

In fact it didn't even come true for Jason Aldean the week before "Red" came out.
And Jason sold over 400,000 copies his first week, with hardly any songs denting the new chart.

The only real effect is has is the 7 week #1 song wanegbt. Though this comes from pop airplay.
And will fall off next week since it's dropping in pop.

And Begin Again is slowly climbing the charts...So what gives with Bill Werde and many fans thinking this chart would actually do anything special?

Plus Scott Borchetta does not do spotify, meaning all the Big Machine Artists are basically screwed over.

The only 2 other artists who got help was Gary Allan, and Flordia/Georgia Line. No one else has gotten any help from the new charts.

Cause he is the one who made the changes and basically said it would help certain artists. And So far it hasn't help any artists.

Especially if the labels do not use spotify or send their songs to pop radio.

I disagree that it had no point. The point of it was to have the biggest country song be #1 no matter if it had massive radio success or not. The biggest problem was including crossover airplay into the equation.

Exactly. And Taylor's singles are all over the place. You got like 3 songs going at once. But no other artist like Bill predicted is making "pop" songs and choosing to go that route.

The hot 100 for country music, is a waste of chart. Just go back to airplay and let it be.

Thing is they should make it that country airplay >>>> pop airplay. WANEGBT hasn't been played on any country radio stations since September and is still #1.

They should make the formula something like Country Airplay 70% > Digital Sales 15% > Streaming 10% > Other Radio Airplay 5%.

When I think of #1 country songs I think of songs that actually get played on country radio, seeing as Blown Away, Hard to Love and Kiss Tomorrow Goodbye were all bigger country hits.

Also most country publications still use Country Airplay as the official country chart, so there really was no point in revamping the country charts.

Mezik I forgot to mention that. Mediabase is used by most of the top 40 country radio shows on Sunday Mornings.

Wrong on so many levels. Digital sales should get the highest weight.

Why should they get the heighest weight? Country radio is still in charge of what gets played.
If we went by digitial downloads there would be 5 country artists on the whole charts.
It should go airplay gets 85%, downloads 10%, and streaming 5% if anything.

Believe it or not country radio is actually good for artists and fans. Without Country Radio there would be no "free" concerts for fans. There would be no ticket giveaways, or getting to meet your favorite artist at special promotions, and even landing backstage passes.

Why would you based the charts on what's good for artists though? Charts are supposed to measure the popularity of songs. Nothing more nothing less.

No digital sales shoudn't be so dependent for a genre where theres only few artists who can actually sell well. This will force country artists to make pop mixes availible for downloads so they can appeal to the pop fans.

Digital sales would make it hard for new artists break it, and would basically make country airplay useless. It's basically saying, it doesn't matter what the country audience wants it only matters what a whole bunch of pop loving teens want.

While not perfect country radio is actually more expandeble than the pop stations who play the same song every hour on the hour and basically have it on repeat.

Country Music Programmers contrary to popular belief and if you sign up for it, will actually send out emails rating 100 plus songs and they choose what to play off that too.

Plus you have mediabase request links, and most radio stations encourage what fans want to hear.

And honestly there was nothing wrong with the airplay chart. Every Artist has a chance to #1. Now with the new chart it's basically hard to get to #1.

You're talking like the aim of country genre is just to appeal on a specific group of people.
I mean weren't you excited when Carrie was having shows outside the US? You want her to be global or something like that. So why are you worried right now if the genre is expanding and reaching out to other groups? And Billboard just changed their formula to be able to fit to the changes. And lol at you for almost saying that it's only what the "country audience" like that should be counted and those "pop loving" teens or whatever you meant by that, are irrelevant to the formula.

I'm glad that Carrie's taking her career outside of the U.S, she's still staying true to her country roots so I honestly have no idea what your trying to say.

The formula should be made to give all country artists an even shot at getting a #1 song. Not a country artist who promotes herself as pop that has songs that aren't even country topping the chart.
