The system is flawed, however. I know people who claim their friends' kids just to get food stamps. I don't know how they do it (I for one would be terrified that I'd be caught) but they do and use money that should go to people who actually need it.

I have three family members on food stamps/welfare (aunts/uncle) and they all horribly abuse the system. None of them have jobs. Not because they can't work or have a disability, but because they don't want to work. Instead they sit on welfare and abuse their food stamps. All of the money they get goes towards alcohol/useless electronics which is horrible. I agree that a large percent of people do abuse the system.

I agree, but you also gotta wonder what effect those kinds of 'jokes' have on the people who watch Fox News. It's pretty irresponsible to joke like that when you know that your joke will only reinforce the stereotypes and mindsets that the people watching you may have. Unless, of course, that's what you wanted...

It's more depressing that the richest country in the world has 50 million people who are food insecure.

EVEN more depressing that 43% of those people don't receive help for their needs.

Sad.

It's not that this was that big of a deal, it's that it's ANOTHER instance of Fox "News" spewing their condescending judgement.
