With the promo plan RCA had for her third single (Billboard Music Award performance 2 weeks before a radio adds date and NOTHING else) there was no chance of anything smashing. Dark Side was the best option and performed the best it could under the circumstances. A simple VMA performance when the song was just at it's peak and at #25 on iTunes would have propelled it to the Top 10 and likely made Dark Side an actual hit.
