I always put songs that came out the majority of that year, but if a song came out in December of last year, then I include those songs too or if a song that came out last year, but became popular the next year. For example Ellie Goulding- "Lights." I wasn't aware of that song until this year. That song came out last year ,but became popular in the states this year. That's what I do, but everyone is different.

I already did my traditional lists. Top 60 songs of 2012, Top 20 Albums, Top 10 movies. Next up I need to do Top 10 TV shows. I'm thinking about creating newer lists. I'm on Thanksgiving break.

As for the ATRL portion, I'm still doing the top 10 new members of 2012 and my favorite members list of the year.

My songs list is coming along very nicely. I think it's going to be a Top 30 Gotta think of some other lists to do as well!

One thing I dislike about these countdowns is having the same artist repeated like 5 times in the top 20. I do not like those countdowns, like do they know about musical variety at all?

Even if I have to be a little manipulative sometimes my yearend top 10 is always made with 10 different artist.

I think that each one is free to make their countdown as whatever they like.
BUT, I agree with you. Totally. I usually distribute the songs from same artists in different blocks, no matter if I like them more than others that are going to end higher.

I get that. When all album tracks make 1-12 on a countdown I just think it's pointless. That being said, the same artist holds the top 2 spots on my countdown at the moment. It's not just because they're my fave, but because I seriously fell in love with both of the songs.

I want to make my Top Hot 100 Number Ones but I don't wanna include 'One More Night', I want to replace it with 'Gangnam Style' since that's the single which topped the sales chart for weeks. It's cool, right?

I understand the sentiment, but I don't necessarily believe that having so many songs from your favorite artist so high means that you have no idea what musical variety means. For example, as of right now, my top 20 has three songs from my favorite artist and two from another artist that dominated my 2012. I also listened to a TON of music, though, and my top 100 will reflect that. Maybe I'm not the best example of what you're referring to, but I guess I just want to prove that not everyone who has a lot of songs by one artist up high on their year-end singles/songs lists doesn't understand musical variety.

I have to disagree with you. The countdowns are about the most relevant songs to you. It's about you, your personal taste and your personality. It's not meant to have only unique artists, it's not gonna represent what was important for you along the year that way. I'll do a Top 200 singles this year, and there are a couple artists which will appear many times, but the unique artist amount is way higher than that you can't say I don't know about musical variety only judging by the duplicates, sis. I'm sure you will see.

I agree with you. I always try to add extra points to make my countdown interesting and to avoid artist repetition even in the same set.

It's just an opinion at the end you'll do whatever you want.

Vacation period has started for me, so it's time to work on my Top 500 of 2000-2009.

What I do is commenting on sets I see different artists and/or songs I like. As for the ones having the same artist, I just don't comment as I find it boring, but it's their musical taste. There's nothing we can do.
However, I always look forward to new members' countdowns with a very interesting variety of artists or musical genres. Probably it's not a big majority, but at least it's something.

Somehow my lists have different artists on the top spot all the time, and it's not that I'm always concerned at not having them high on my c/d. It just happens.

Who wants to help me with graphics but for real I need help with graphics because I've never done any of this before. I need help.

I will probably make Top 40 of 2012
Top 40 Albums of 2012
And if someone helps me with the graphics: Top 20 Members Of The Year
