Not trying to defend her, but I guess her point is, using your analogy, is that If you want to introduce someone to Japanese food, you wouldn't give them a teriyaki burger which is just a burger with teriyaki sauce. You would give them something more cultural.
No. You got the opposite of the meaning I was trying to convey. Start slow, work up to the more difficult stuff.
It was refreshingly solid overall, mostly because I had "Queen" to compare it against, which I loathed. Considering that I set my standards low, it was easy to be impressed. Realistically it's kind of a pedestrian album and the title track isn't necessarily amazing, but I wouldn't say she didn't do a good job. It's beyond listenable material for the most part. I think I deleted like one song and the remix. Dam Bi can be great though.
The title track is a grower imo, when i first heard it i feel like it's lacking something, but after the 4th/5th listen i fell in love with it, i mean, the whole context flows so well together , the lyrics, the instrumental, her voice, the choreography, everything is there for a reason and i really LOVED how she executed it so well. And i agree with you, the mini is solid/better than "the queen", "Emergency Call" is title-track material, "Return" is a great intro (it feels good to hear those confident words from her after such a long time) and "I Wanna Be With You" is a cool track. The ballad is the typical ballad form almost every korean mini, i mean, it's there but it's nothing new (Wich the Queen surprised me, "Can't U See" is easily the best track on it and it's the ballad of the mini).
