Which artist do you think is the biggest 'record label puppet' (the one who has the least creative control over their work, and their career is run by their label). Take into account things like song writing, fashion, producing, touring, performances etc.
There are many others but these are the first two that popped up in my head. It's not a bad thing, I mean both artists still have some input regarding their music and their career; but it's obvious in both cases that management are making sure these people are being marketed a certain way.
If she didn't want to release yearly albums, then she wouldn't. She has a lot creative control fashion-wise, and it is just song writing which she doesn't do (which she could if she wanted to).
