Do you think producers are sick of the WGWG guys winning?
WGWG stands for White Guys With Guitars for those that don't know.
But, I'm starting to wonder if producers of TV Shows like American Idol and The X Factor and The Voice are sick of seeing the winner being practically the same exact thing - a white guy with a cute/hot face that plays the guitar. Jordin Sparks was the last female contestant to win American Idol, and right now on The X Factor USA, Tate Stevens and Vino Alan are practically leading the votes. I don't know about The Voice though, so no judging that...from me anyway.
My question is on how the judges are hired and other interesting factors. Do you think producers, aside from the fact that they hire people that will bring in ratings, hire the judges like Britney, Christina, Mariah, Demi, Nicki, and so forth so that they can find a winner that ISN'T a white guy with a guitar?
So ultimately, do you think the producers are sick of the WGWG factor coming into play for American Idol, and apparently now in The X Factor to the point or hiring new judges or other factors?
On American Idol I don't think they care anymore... they probably realized it is better for them to pander to their bigger remaining demographic than try to fight it.
A WGWG has never won the voice US... so far it's been a bald black guy both times. And Melanie Amaro isn't a WGWG Additionally, regardless of who has been winning, we know who the most successful are. CU and KC
