I know both are pretty disliked here, but who would you want as President, if Bush or Romney were the only two options you could vote for and there was no Obama? Which one do you dislike the least?

Bush by far. Incompetent but far more moderate than Romney. And Romney has this aura of corruption around him. You just know everything he does is only for his own wealth and that of the people he's in business with. Bush is far more harmless.

Now he sucked pretty hard but there have been a few worse presidents.

But yeah, Romney would probably be better.

1. Bush passed a huge tax cut plan, mostly benefiting the wealthy. Romney’s tax cut plan is four times larger, more heavily weighted to benefit ultra wealthy.

2. Bush signed the McCain-Feingold campaign finance law. Romney supports repealing virtually all campaign finance laws.

3. Bush supported comprehesive immigration reform, a path to citizenship for 12 million undocumented immigrants and provisions of the DREAM Act. Romney opposes all of it.

4. Bush enacted a historic expansion of Medicare. Romney wants to end Medicare as we know it.

5. Bush signed a substantial increase to the minimum wage. Romney opposes increasing the minimum wage.

6. Bush created higher fuel efficiency standards. Romney says even current standards are too high.

7. Bush acknowledged global warming is caused by humans. Romney says “we don’t know.”

8. Bush lauched one of the biggest land conservation programs in U.S. history. Romney says the federal government owns too much land.

9. Bush supported civil unions for gay couples. Romney opposes them.

The scary thing is that a Republican would never gain traction with Bush's policies today.

Yeah, honestly, there's two things about Bush that make him the lesser of two evils. For one thing, no matter how I may have felt about those eight years, at least I knew EXACTLY what I was getting with Dubya. He was who he was. There wasn't the possibility of a hidden layer to him. He was a good ol' boy who, somehow, was elected President. He was a buffoon and a moron, absolutely, but he didn't hide that. In fact, he PRIDED himself on that. Mitt Romney, on the other hand, has multiple sides to him, each more dangerous and worrisome than the last, and it's really hard to tell which side is really which. Bush also NEVER flip-flopped on the level that Mitt Romney did during the 2012 campaign. Bush had some terrible policies and ideas, but he never backtracked if he felt it was truly the right thing to do. Mitt Romney backtracked so many times that I was ready to call a flip-flop a "Mitt" if he got elected President.

And second, to me (and many others), the real President during those eight years was Bush's VP, Dick Cheney. He was the ringleader of pain. Bush always felt like a puppet whose strings were being pulled by a higher power.
