Hello Castaways! It's the time to reveal your scores for the 3rd Round of the game. The results and scoring will work exactly the same as previous rounds.
Let's get started...
Puka Puka

1. TheSeenScene - Kellie Pickler - Best Days of Your Life - American Idol
Quote:
Dillon - 9 - I will probably be the only one who gets this entry. Kellie was on Season 6 of AI and was my favorite. I cried when she went home but I was like 8 so give me a break. This is her only platinum certified single and based on her drop by her label, it seems like it will be her only one. I loved the song and the video and the addition of Taylor did no harm either. Nice one.
|
Quote:
Ray Bass: 7. “I’ve never been truly a fan of Kellie Pickler but I must say this is one of her best songs to date.”
|
Quote:
Anna - TheSeenScene - 4 - her voice is not bad, but it has a bit of an annoying tone to it. the song itself is typically country-pop. nothing special.
|
Quote:
Alexz - 9 - Very impressed, I honestly expected a cute basic country song, but instead I got this amazing rock-influenced break-up anthem that I'm going to add to my iPod, and the best part of it is that Taylord Swift is in the music video (and probably added some background vocals?) ! Not bad at all for a person who ended 6th place on AI.
|
2. MWB - Amelia Lily - You Bring Me Joy - X Factor UK
Quote:
Dillon - 7 - She's from X Factor UK. I like the beat of the song but the lyrics and her vocals are lacking on this one. Towards the end, it builds up which makes it a kinda cute listen. On the plus side, it was the 2nd highest debut by an X Factor contestant. You could have done better I believe.
|
Quote:
Ray Bass: 9. “MWB, you bring me joy with this song! I used to hum along this song while driving to school when Amelia first released this. This reached #2 on the UK charts and she slayed radio, and I always thought she was a better star than Little Mix and Marcus Collins. Great job!”
|
Quote:
Anna - MWB - 7 - I immediately feel drawn to this darker sounding tune and it makes me wanna dance, too. the vocals seem a bit dull and repetitive, but I still like the song.
|
Quote:
Alexz - 6.5 - This girl has a unique and likeable tone to her voice, but the song brought me a head ache instead of joy, the repetitive lyrics killed the song for me, It seems like the producers wanted her to succeed so bad that they went the easy route and jumped in the electro house-dance pop with simple lyrics that Calvin/Rihanna popularized,
Anyway, not a very strong song choice imo.
|
3. AdamAL4 - Olly Murs feat. Chiddy Bang - Heart Skips A Beat - X Factor UK
Quote:
Dillon - 8.5 - Awww he's adorable. I've seen his name around but I haven't heard any of his amterial. It's pretty good. His music video is...interesting. I liked the song, it's not something I'm gonna rush to go download but there's not many former reality tv contestants that can make good music anymore. Nice job.
|
Quote:
Ray Bass: 9. “Flawless, flawless entry. This song truly embodies all of Olly’s journey throughout X Factor. The only reason I’m deducting points is because you didn’t send me the original Rizzle Kicks version, because Rizzle > Chiddy .
|
Quote:
Anna - AdamAL4 - 10 - I first heard this on a radio show where they were playing new releases and it was the song that stood out to me the most. it sounds so fresh and energetic, it always puts me in a good mood and I just wanna sing it to the whole world. loves it.
|
Quote:
Alexz - 8 - First impressions are some times important because if someone gives you a great impression then you will probably want to know more about them...and this is exactly what happened to me with this hottie. I really liked the song, he has a unique sound and I can see him having some success if they promote him correctly. Kudos to you for sending a song by a male pop star instead of the predictable female pop star song.
|
4. BlazingLovatic - Kristina Debarge - Sabotage - American Juniors
Quote:
Dillon - 7 - I really like thsi girl. I actually watched American Juniors and I have her album Exposed. However, if you were gonna send in a Kristinia Debarge song, it should be Goodbye. It's much better and a lot of people on ATRL admit to bopping to it when it was out. I actually think Carly would have been your best bet this round. You second guessed yourself too much.
|
Quote:
Ray Bass: 4. “Blazing I can’t believe you did not send Goodbye, and you sent this flop song instead. . Sabotage as a follow-up single to Goobye proved to be a mess, hence why Kristinia isn’t relevant anymore.”
|
Quote:
Anna - BlazingLovatic - 5 - this leaves me feeling pretty neutral. I like the incorporation of the piano, and I think it's a nice song to bop to on the radio, but it wouldn't make me want to find out more about the artist.
|
Quote:
Alexz - 6.5 - Not impressed at all, this girls is sure talented, and you can totally feel the passion she has for music, but imo the song is bland, nothing groundbreaking.
|
5. Jolie's Lips - One Direction - That's What Makes You Beautiful - X Factor UK
Quote:
Dillon - 9 - Ughhhhhhhhh I hate giving this a good rate Obviously they have managed to make themselves huge outside of the UK so this was a predictable, but good choice. You've been risky before so I'm not going to tell you that you play it safe Jolie. Nice choice for this round.
|
Quote:
Ray Bass: 10. “Whether you like it or not, this one is an easy 10 because of the humongous success One Direction has had worldwide. This is the kind of entry in which you have to place personal taste aside, because the facts speak for themselves, as this is one of the biggest hits of the year. Jolie you’re slaying the competition!”
|
Quote:
Anna - Jolie's Lips - 2 - I wish I could get back the 3 minutes 20 seconds of my life I wasted listening to this generic, overly cheesy song. the lyrics, the na na na, the music, it's all so bad it makes me cringe. would be a 1 but it fits the theme.
|
Quote:
Alexz - 9 - Girls (and gays ) all over the world are wetting their undies and fantasizing over the boys of 1D because of this song, I wasn't a big fan of WMYB at the beginning, but as time passed I started to appreciate the simplicity and honesty of the song. I'm not surprised you managed to submit one of the strongest entries of the round, well done!
|
6. SIMon1120 - Adam Lambert - Whataya Want From Me - American Idol
Quote:
Dillon - 10 - His best song ever and probably his only Top Ten Hit from his career. He'll probably get dropped if not after this era but the next. I love him so that just sucks since Trespassing had some potential hits that he ignored. Great choice! I know some of your team wanted you to change it but I'm glad you didn't. It obviously payed off. Beautiful song. You're one of the most consistent here Simon.
|
Quote:
Ray Bass: 9.5. “An easy one. I must predict many of you wanted to send this safe choice as your entry, but it truly works. Lambert’s biggest hits, and the production in this is so likable and infectious it just makes you want more hits from Adam. Nicely done Simon, you’re proving yourself as a great contender!”
|
Quote:
Anna - SIMon1120 - 10 - his best song to date imo. the lyrics are great and his voice is strong yet vulnerable, which is exactly what this song needs and what makes it special. great choice.
|
Quote:
Alexz - 10 - One of my favorite entries this round, the only song I really love from Mr. Lambert, Pink's lyrics and Adam's amazing vocals are such a great combination.
|
7. Middle of Selena - Olly Murs - Troublemaker - X Factor UK
Quote:
Dillon - 8 - LOL at me and Anna thinking it was Maroon 5 singing. That's kinda not a good thing when you sound like an imitation of another artist. The addition of Flo actually helps for once. Nothing groundbreaking but pretty good.
|
Quote:
Ray Bass: 8. “MOS, I don’t know how much you’re into Olly, but this is one is a tough one for me. I love his style and his whole vibe, but I really can’t stand whatever Flo Rida touches. Anyways, I love the song’s composition overall so I won’t give this a bad score.”
|
Quote:
Anna - Middle of Selena - 8 - this kinda sounds like a Maroon 5 song. I like the rap part better than the one on HSAB, but overall the song seems a bit weaker to me because it's not as attention-grabbing.
|
Quote:
Alexz - 8.5 - Another Murs track! So catchy, I kinda like this more than Heart Skips a Beat, I wish Flo Rida wasn't featured on the song, Olly doesn't needs rappers to get a hit, he has the talent, looks and charisma to make it big.
|
Salani
1. Hugamari - Jessica Mauboy - Get 'Em Girls - Australian Idol
Quote:
Dillon - 9 - Now Hugamari, why were you so worried about this entry. It's HOT. Actually makes me wanna listen again. She got Snoop on her single which can only help and it gives me PCD "Buttons" teas. Great! Edit: now i see why you were worried.
|
Quote:
Ray Bass: 5. “Meh, just meh. I remember wanting to listen to her because of Snoop Dogg being featured on the single version, but not even Snoop on this one could get me interested on her.”
|
Quote:
Anna - Hugamari - 9 - dang, this is fierce! sexy, too, and the beat is interesting. Snoop Dogg's rap makes it even better. now that I think about it, it kinda reminds me of PCD. cool.
|
Quote:
Alexz - 6 - What in the name of Kabbalah is this mess, why would you pick this over so many great songs? This kinda bops but other than that it's so forgettable and basic.
|
2. Energy - Danity Kane feat. Missy Elliot - Bad Girl - Making the Band
Quote:
Dillon - 7 - I actually really like that you thought wayyyyyy outside of the box for which show you were going to choose from. But why did you choose this song instead of Damaged or Show Stopper? I like the song but it's far from their strongest song. Alright job.
|
Quote:
Ray Bass: 6. “I’m truly confused on how of every Danity Kane you could choose, like Damaged, Show Stopper, you chose probably their most basic song ever. I like Missy’s verse, is cute, but that’s about it. I’m still expecting more from you Energy, I know you’ve got a very complete music knowledge, you just gotta hit my weak spot!”
|
Quote:
Anna - Energy - 7 - I like the sample they used, whatever it is, it sounds different. the chorus is the weakest part of this song and actually puts me off a little, but the rest is good enough to still be above average.
|
Quote:
Alexz - 7 - It's an OK song, they have better songs imo.
|
3. iLukey - Rebecca Ferguson - Nothings Real But Love - X Factor UK
Quote:
Dillon - 9 - !!!! I was nto expecting that voice to come out of her at all! Hearing it live makes it so much better. She's got sime pipes on her. Another round well done!
|
Quote:
Ray Bass 10. “PERFECTION. This track shows Rebecca’s powerful vocals, with a soothing piano production, and even the hook is infectious for a ballad, that makes Rebecca Ferguson’s soul-pop songs the best ones. How she lost against Matt Cardle is mind-boggling to me. Lukey you’re proving to be one of the members to beat on Season 2! Amazing job!”
|
Quote:
Anna - iLukey - 10 - I saw her perform this on TV when I had no idea who she was and it blew me away. she has such a great voice and the song is beautiful, simple but has such a touching message. I get goosebumps every time I listen to it. amazing. this makes three tens in a row for you, I'm impressed. you're the best player so far.
|
Quote:
Alexz - 8.5 - Damn, this girl has so much soul in her voice! It's a cute song, her voice is so strong and unique, really impressed by your entry!
|
4. Adr - Daughtry - What About Now - American Idol
Quote:
Dillon - 9.5 - Ray's just a hater of white people with no hair tbh. Kidding of course, but this is one of my favorite songs by them! The only songs I really use from them is this one and Life After You. Your streak is still going on for me Adrian.
|
Quote:
Ray Bass: 6. “Adr, this is truly a letdown after your previous entries. I mean, Daughtry has great songs like It’s Not Over or Home, but this one is really average.”
|
Quote:
Anna - Adr - 6 - Adrian.. it hurts my soul to end your streak but I'm not a big Daughtry fan. I recently did a rate they were a part of so I've heard quite a few of their songs, and their music just seems average to me for the most part. it's nice, radio-friendly, but nothing more.
|
Quote:
Alexz - 8.5 - One of the things I like about this song is the fact that is wasn't intended to be an inspirational song but it ended up being one, a song with more the one meaning is so hard to create this days, and this songs is proof enough of how talented the writers are. Daughtry's voice blends so well with the lyrics. Well done.
|
5. Stevie - Daughtry - Home - American Idol
Quote:
Dillon - 9 - This song was used in about every exit from a TV show for like 5 years But it's a good song with nice message. I own the album and they were a pretty solid "band". Glad you replaced Kavish out of all people tbh. You seem to know what you're doing.
|
Quote:
Ray Bass: 9.5. “I’m going homeeeeeee, to the place where I belong – well certainly you aren’t going anywhere Stevie, you’re staying in the island. Probably Daughtry’s biggest hit, I miss these type of songs being huge hits on radio. Nicely done!”
|
Quote:
Anna - Stevie - 7 - see above. I'm surprised you sent in Daughtry since you were following the Contemporary Men rate and saw how they were received. however, you're lucky because this is my second favorite song from them, I really like the melody and the lyrics and his voice sounds good.
|
Quote:
Alexz - 9 - I never understood why Daughtry was so successful until I heard this song, such an honest and amazing song, the lyrics are the best part of it.
|
6. nezlaos - Jennifer Hudson - And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going - American Idol
Quote:
Dillon - 9 - Very sorry about the cover rule since I meant covers done on the show that had studio versions She was the highlight of the movie. Beyonce didn't do much for me. This was Jennifer's peak and it will remain that way. I like this one.
|
Quote:
Ray Bass: 9. “This made the entire Dreamgirls movie for me, to be honest. J-Hud’s powerful performance on both, the film and this song, makes everyone question is she truly deserved exiting so early from American Idol. I know I said I wanted Spotlight as an entry, but this one is a nice one as well. Excellent nezlaos.”
|
Quote:
Anna - nezlaos - 4 - I'm not really feeling the song itself plus what she's doing with her voice is just too much, I wish she'd toned it down a bit. towards the end I could barely stand it anymore. a more quiet approach would have been more fitting as I feel this is not a song to show off her vocal abilities.
|
Quote:
Alexz - 6 - This song would have slayed in another round, the lyrics, the emotion, Jennifer's vocals, everything was on point, one of the highlights of Dream Girls, but since it's a cover I'm gonna give you a 6, It's our fault we didn't told you to change your entry, but you also share some guilty because the rules were very clear, NO covers allowed.
|
7. johnrm - Jessica Sanchez - Change Nothing - American Idol
Quote:
Dillon - 5 - She can SINGGGG. But she's so overrated. Home was way better than her single. Was this even released? It's really a bore tbh. Sorry john!
|
Quote:
Ray Bass: 6.5. “To my very honest opinion, she’s really overrated. Phillip Phillips deservingly won, as Home completely overshadowed her.”
|
Quote:
Anna - johnrm - 4 - the first 80 seconds were kind of a snoozefest, I'm glad it took off a bit afterwards but it still seems like just another average ballad to me. there's nothing unique about it, I don't think I'll remember it tomorrow.
|
Quote:
Alexz - 8 - I never understood why this didn't at least sold decent, her vocals alone make the song good, even if it's your typical Pop ballad song. A great song, you will probably do fine this round, John!
|
8. Outlaw - Pia Toscano - This Time - American Idol
Quote:
Dillon - 6.5 - Haley >>> despite that this song is cute. Nothing more. It sounds a little country for some weird reason. She had an issue displaying emotion which is what makes this feel uninspired. I know you don't watch these shows but this one wasn't a good choice.
|
Quote:
Ray Bass: 7. “Probably one of the most unfair eliminations of all eleven seasons of American Idol. I hope Pia would’ve reached further so people could’ve placed interest in her. This Time is cute, but that’s about it.”
|
Quote:
Anna - Outlaw - 4 - this song also feels so uninspired, like I've heard it a thousand times before from other artists only they did it better. she seems to have a decent voice but the song is so boring, it would go by unnoticed if I heard somewhere.
|
Quote:
Alexz - 8.5 - This song is definitely a grower, I remember being a little disappointed at first, but after some more plays I was completely slayed, it's even better live, definitely a great song choice.

1. DripDrip - Four Leaf Clover - Diana Vickers - X Factor UK
Quote:
Dillon - 8 - This a very different choice! It's soothing. I like this. You really though outside of the box on this one! It's not even her most known song either. Good.
|
Quote:
Ray Bass: 8. “I don’t love it, but I don’t hate this also. Diana has always been a question mark for me. Nicely done anyways.”
|
Quote:
Anna - DripDrip - 10 - intriguing intro and what an interesting voice that follows! I can hear a certain charme and personality, this is different and new, it's like a breath of fresh air after some of the previous entries. I like how she's mostly just singing with the guitar, it leaves her voice enough space and the strings in the chorus are also used very effectively. nice job.
|
Quote:
Alexz - 9 - The production of this song is amazing, her voice is so unique and the lyrics are so honest and good, such a great combination!
|
2. iggie45 - Daughtry - It's Not Over
Quote:
Dillon - 9 - I knew them and Jennifer Hudson would be chosen alot. It's a bit safe but I like the song and Daughtry. Nice pick this round Iggie.
|
Quote:
Ray Bass: 9. “Daughtry’s breakout single! I loved this when it was released, and although Home is my favorite from him, this one is also really good. Told you Iggie, you would get me back!”
|
Quote:
Anna - iggie45 - 8 - congratulations, you chose my favorite Daughtry song so you get the highest score out of those who sent him in. this song is darker, it's almost a bit aggressive and definitely more rock-ish than the others and I like that.
|
Quote:
Alexz - 9.5 - One of the obvious choices in this round, but yet still a great one, Duaghtry's first successful single, and for me, one of the best songs by them.
|
3. Jack. - Jennifer Hudson - All Dressed In Love - American Idol
Quote:
Dillon - 9.5 - This is on the Sex and the City Soundtrack huh? I LIKE IT ALOT. Jennifer was obvously going to be chosen alot but you picked one of her better songs so nice job.
|
Quote:
Ray Bass: 8. “Powerful song, and no one can go wrong with J-Hud’s vocals. I really wish this song was more well-known, because its simply amazing. Great job Jack!”
|
Quote:
Anna - Jack. - 7 - it's not exactly my cup of tea, but I like this song better than And I Am Telling You.., simply because her voice is not so overwhelming here and the song itself is more accessible.
|
Quote:
Alexz - 10 - Love, love, love this song! It reminds of Nat King Cole's "Love", this song had so much potential to become a classic, one of my favorite entries this round. Have you found love, Jack.?
|
4. nills - Allison Iraheta - Friday I'll Be Over U - American Idol
Quote:
Dillon - 9 - Love this girl. Her debut was great. This song was very catchy although I think it being too pop ruined her potential for success. Still bop to her album from time to time.
|
Quote:
Ray Bass: 5.5. “I know everyone was really hyped by Allison’s overall journey throughout American Idol, but I was not one of them. This song simply falls flat, as many of her songs. No wonder she flopped.”
|
Quote:
Anna - nills - 7 - not bad. a bit too heavy on the synths for my liking and the lyrics are pretty childish, but her voice is cool and the edgy rock sound makes it listenable plus it's a really catchy tune.
|
Quote:
Alexz - 8.5 - Such a shame this flopped, so much potential, from the raspy vocals to the amazingly catchy chorus, it could have been a less successful Since You Been Gone.
|
5. SyntaxError - Jennifer Hudson - Spotlight - American Idol
Quote:
Dillon - 10 - i have the album! This song was great and I love the lyrics. Not sure why she didn't continue to go this direction but anyway, great choice!
|
Quote:
Ray Bass: 10. “Masterpiece. Jennifer Hudson’s breakout single as a singer. This song defines R&B. This is the song I had in mind as an entry, and you hit on the spot Syntax!!! Flawless entry, and excellent job. Praise from me.”
|
Quote:
Anna - SyntaxError - 10 - wow, I didn't really want to listen to this after the other two JH songs but I'm pleasantly surprised! the song flows really nicely with the underlaying piano, and her voice shines without being too in-your-face. good choice!
|
Quote:
Alexz -8.5 - I rediscovered this song not to long ago thanks to Glee and I have to say it's not as bad as I thought it was, it's actually good, tho JHud has better songs, but still, a great choice.
|
6. ImARudeBoy - Katharine McPhee - Over It - American Idol
Quote:
Dillon - 10 - This song is so good! I can't believe she only went Top 30 with this. The rest of the album was meh but this a true gem. I liked some of her second album as well. Katharine has maintainded relevance somehow which is nice. You keep impressing us judges each week Danny.
|
Quote:
Ray Bass: 9.5. “I always wanted this to have the amount of success other American Idol alumni had with their debut singles. Over It is amazing, I even remember the video slaying Total Request Live’s countdown. Wonderful song by Kat, and RudeBoy you keep impressing me so far!”
|
Quote:
Anna - ImARudeBoy - 4 - it's okay, I guess. I had to force myself to stay focused because there's nothing outstanding about this song. I'd say it falls into the category "nice background music". I've already forgotten what it sounds like.
|
Quote:
Alexz - 10 - Katharine ****ing Mcphee. Need I say more?
|
7. MusicLoverDude - Chris Rene - Trouble - X Factor USA
Quote:
Dillon - 8 - It's kinda like Jason Mraz mixed with Bruno Mars. You got a good one this round so you should be proud MLD. You stepped out of the box and it payed off most definitely.
|
Quote:
Ray Bass: 7. “To be quite honest MLD, I was hoping you were gonna send me one of Carly’s gems from her debut album, Tiny Little Bows, CMM, Your Heart is a Muscle, anyone would’ve slayed me. And from Chris Rene, Young Homie was the obvious choice as an entry, but Trouble is not bad. I’m glad you sent something different.”
|
Quote:
Anna - MusicLoverDude - 10 - the intro gives me Jason Mraz teas with that ukulele, but then the electronic beat comes in for the chorus which is an interesting mix. nothing you come across every day! his voice sounds so rich and pleasant, the lyrics are kinda funny, it's catchy and laid-back. I like it.
|
Quote:
Alexz - 8.5 - This song is actually good! I'm very surprised, better than his first song, it's very catchy and could be a hit if promoted properly.

I'm kinda pissed off about that, but at the end of the day it's a team effort so....

Not Slayani slaying again!
Surprised I got 2 9's, and both the 9's had references to PCD. I won't take alexz's entry to heart too much, she is a critical judge. (Not that it's bad, it's just something to work for.)
