Honestly, I feel like a lot of the black celebrities don't help this by constantly portraying those kinds of roles and singing/rapping some of the lyrics they do. Black people are just as diverse as white people and I have a lot of black friends here. I'm white, btw, and I grew up in Alaska where even the black people there have a different mentality and personality. Every part of the country has its own culture and every race within those parts of the country do too.
Sorry for the little rant, but it's something that irritates me. I feel the same about gays and their stereotypes and how that's what they play most of the time in movies/tv as well. People aren't going to move past those kinds of things unless people refuse stereotypical roles. But then again, that would make for boring entertainment huh?

You think it's easy but Tyler Perry pushes that a lot and he's one of the most successful black directors. That's why there's a new wave of ones who aren't portraying stereotypes. Black culture is heavily sought after and stolen a LOT but never credited. Jamaica clearly never gets its credit where it's due in music.
