Comparing Madonna's 10th album to Gaga's 3rd?
Probably not, but anything is possible.

No I don't believe it. The concept of ARTPOP seems different than COADF, at least to me.

Gaga's been recording this album since late 2011.
The music inspired by the "future " she's talking about will sound dated by the time she releases that album.

That's very incorrect, though... her artistic capabilities are greater than any modern pop artist.

I'd sooner it be her ROL if Gaga's album must be compared to a Madonna release.

Dunno, even as a Madonna stan I don't see the need to constantly compare every release of hers to one of Madonna. It'll be her Artpop.

I don't give "Confessions" a lot of credit, the best song of the album, 'Hung Up', would be nothing without the ABBA sample so...

I've always felt like 'THE FAME' was Gaga's 'Confessions On a Dancefloor' because they sound similar to me and have the same fun attitude to them. I don't know whats gonna happen with ARTPOP, all I know is that a lot of people here have already given up all hope for it so when it comes out and its halfway decent people are going to be slayed to death.

I don't think so. "COADF" is cohesive masterpiece.
I now have feeling ARTPOP will be all over the place.
EDIT: Oh, success? No.

This is a pretty good question, let me elaborate.
When Gaga announced Born This Way, she hyped it on a level that we had never seen before, calling it the 'Album of the Decade' was an overstatement, it was a great album but it's not the best of the last decade, she delivered an album full of experimental songs and mostly not mainstream at all (See Government Hooker, Highway Unicorn, Scheiße, etc), when the general public heard the album, they felt that it wasn't what Gaga had promised and the support the GP had given her started to dwindle.
Madonna released an album full of politically charged songs, and she was always critical of the US war on the middle east, people framed her as a 'Traitor' and they banned her from the US radio, all of that led to American Life (a GREAT album imo) to be her biggest flop in the US, it had good acceptance overseas though.
After American Life, Madonna decided to go back to her dance roots, and she created the pop MASTERPIECE that is Confessions on a Dance Floor, an album that flows perfectly, an album ahead of its time (It could have been released on 2010-2011 and sound fresh) that album gave her, her biggest hit to date Hung Up and made people remember why they loved Madonna in the first place.
With Born This Way, the problem was bad management, wrong single choices and terrible videos, if Gaga had managed the era better, it would've gone much better, comparing American Life to Born This Way is reaching, and reaching to the stars.
I understand that you're comparing Born This Way to American Life in terms of them both being flops (to Gaga and Madonna standards) but you have to understand that they were in different states of their career.
Now, to respond to the question in hand, perhaps; if Gaga plays her cards right ARTPOP could see the same level of success of Confessions on a Dance Floor, she would have to choose the RIGHT singles, the right video directors and do as many performances as she can.
Honestly (and this is coming from one of her biggest fans) this is Gaga's make it or break it point, if she flops with ARTPOP she will lose the remaining support she has from the GP and she will only have us Monsters and the rest of the LGBT supporters, she HAS to play her cards right, I hope this won't be her Bionic.
It was a smart move to get out of the spotlight for a whole year now, that way the GP will have forgotten of BTW by the time ARTPOP is released.
But, even if Gaga flops with her album, i'll be here till the bitter end.

Agreed, from the artwork you could see there was something wrong going on with the promotion.
