Now I'm going to have to stop you right about there.
In my mind I've always thought of musicians that write/play or at least use instruments/and can sing live well as artists
Most musicians that can't do that, I call entertainers, they do it to simply entertain. It is not an art form for them, it is a process where they as a musician sing /with help or not/ with lyrics /written by them or not/
Actors in my opinion, are the same. Very few have reached artistic level.
Art is different, it still takes skill to sit down and draw a vase, you'd still be drawing the vase from your own perspective. If everyone sat down and drew the same vase I doubt highly you'd get two of the same. Therefore stating that (an artist) not using a 'created material' or not in their personal work, is so invalid I have no where to start.
now, re-read the last sentence I just said and let it process. How many artists have taken pre-written songs and just owned it? Just used the words as a canvas to show emotion with their voice and singing ability?
Few, but I'm not here to dispute that.
Hopefully this will end this 'BUT ACTORS DON'T WRITE THEIR SCRIPT SO..SO..' bullcrap
