Hello Castaways! It's the time to reveal your scores for the 2nd Round of the game. The results and scoring will work exactly the same as last round.
Let's get started...
Puka Puka

1. TheSeenScene - P!nk - God Is A DJ - Mean Girls
Quote:
Dillon - 4 - What? This is a huge step down after you came in strong last Round. I don't think of Mean Girls when I think of this song. I think of P!nk's Try This. A lot of songs are used in movies but do not represent the movie in any way. This is one of them unfortunately.
Quote:
Ray Bass: 6. “Not really here for this Pink song, and I can’t even picture this song in the movie, maybe I was too focused on Rachel McAdams’s hotness, but yeah, bland song.”
Quote:
Anna - TheSeenScene - 3 - I had no idea this was on the soundtrack for Mean Girls, I would never have associated it with that movie. I'm not sure if it fits the vibe of the movie and even if it does, it still seems like a random choice for the soundtrack. this is another pretty weak submission from you, I hope you can step it up next time.
Quote:
Alexz - 10 - This song fits the movie so well, Cady was an outcast just like P!nk, and precisely the song talks about how she was an oucast and how she embraced that.
This is my favorite line of the song: "Might as well let go, you can't take back what you've done, just find a new life style, reason to smile" it makes me remember that scene when Cady and Regina smile at each other near the end of the movie, they learned from their mistakes, they forgot about the past and now they are enjoying their new lives. Good job this round!
2. MWB - The Pussycat Dolls & A.R. Rahman - Jai Ho - Slumdog Millionaire
Quote:
Dillon - 9.5 - This song could have been such a disaster but it worked out well. Top 20 in the US and did well around the world. It goes along with the Indian setting of the movie Slumdog Millionaire. I enjoyed it and actually have this one on my ipod. A better job this Round imo.
Quote:
Ray Bass: 8.5. “Great entry. The original Jai Ho made its way to an Oscar win, and the Pussycat Dolls released a great remix of this songs that truly represents the movie.”
Quote:
Anna - MWB - 7 - it's a nice song, but not big hit, and if I heard it, it wouldn't really make me think of the movie. it portrays the theme quite well, though.
Quote:
Alexz - 8 - The song has obviously this Indian music influence which makes me wanna dance every time I hear it, I haven't seen the movie but Dillon told me the protagonist falls in love, and the song talks about that,so of course, it fits the movie,
3. AdamAL4 - Duran Duran - A View To A Kill - A View To A Kill
Quote:
Dillon - 9 - The only James Bond theme song to reach #1 on the Hot 100. Check. It has the same title as the movie A View To A Kill and only exists because of the movie. Check. I like the song?....no. Overall it's a nice choice I never expected this one to come in (never heard it before) which is alos a plus. Good job Adam.
Quote:
Ray Bass: 5. “Meh. Average song, I’m not too much into Duran Duran’s music other than HLTW, but yeah, okay-ish entry at its best.”
Quote:
Anna - AdamAL4 - 8 - ooh, a Bond song! I like it. it's typically 80s, so energetic and yet mysterious, it has some kind of secret agent vibe so it's perfect for Bond. there are more famous Bond songs but this is a good choice.
Quote:
Alexz - 9 - "Dance into the fire, that fatal kiss is all we need...", A James Bond song, thanks God you didn't submitted Skyfall, this is much better, and I like the fact that the writer used words and terms commonly related to killing and James Bond to describe this "attraction" between the lovers.
4. BlazingLovatic - Leona Lewis - I See You - Avatar
Quote:
Dillon - 7.5 - When you think ofhow big Avatar was, this song underwhelms with performance and in general. It does go along with the movie and towards the end the production gets bigger but overall it just falls flat. Titanic and Avatar (both made by James Cameron) gave us "My Heart Will Go On" and "I See You" and I See You does not live up to it's film like "My Heart Will Go On" did with Titanic. That's the issue I have with this one.
Quote:
Ray Bass: 9. “Everything Leona touches and puts her soul into makes a great ballad. I See You is no exception. Lyrics are on point and it really makes a great part of the whole Avatar soundtrack.”
Quote:
Anna - BlazingLovatic - 8 - this gave me goosebumps. I have not seen Avatar but from what I know about it, this seems like the perfect song for it. Leona's voice has so much emotion, and the composition makes it sound epic enough for this epic movie.
Quote:
Alexz - 8 - "And live through your love, and live through your life", Leona delivered such a good song, first time hearing it and I am very surprised, such a shame she hasn't achieved more success since her WW hit "Bleeding Love". Anyway, don't judge me, I haven't seen this movie, but the little things I know about the plot is that humans tried to live in this new world and used the bodies of this creatures to live, right? Well, the song talks about living for someone else, falling in love and becoming one in the relationship. Cute isn it?
5. Jolie's Lips - Survivor - Eye of the Tiger - Rocky III
Quote:
Dillon - 10 - Yassss! This fits so well with the movie. The whole time he is fighting for what he wants. Eye of the Tiger is also used in film basically whenever someone it training to do something big in their life. Really nice choice this round! Angelina would be proud.
Quote:
Ray Bass: 9. “Probably one of the best soundtrack songs of all-time, as we can all associate this tune with the Rocky film franchise in general, it would be absurd to give this a bad score.”
Quote:
Anna - Jolie's Lips - 10 - iconic song for an iconic movie, instant 10. it embodies what the movie is about, the fighting spirit is so well-portrayed in it, plus it's an anthem almost everyone in the world knows. this is what I wanted for this round, songs that are well-known on their own, but are also closely connected to the movie.
Quote:
Alexz - 10 - You were fast enough to submit this song before anyone else, very impressive, I don't want to jinx anything but I can see you being the "Last known survivor" . Anyway, this song is a classic and when you think about this song, you instantly relate it to the movie, most specifically the scene where Rocky is exercising before his battle, and that's what this round is about, I applaud you, Jolie's Lips. Amazing job.
6. SIMon1120 - Beyonce - Listen - Dreamgirls
Quote:
Dillon - 8.5 - Very nice song from Beyonce. It's more a representation of her character in the movie than the film itself but it can go both ways in this case. Pretty nice choice. It wasn't sent in multiple times so it was a different choice.
Quote:
Ray Bass: 9.5. “Listeeeeeeeeeeeeeen… Simon, this is an excellent entry. Listen is one of those ballads you’re sad that R&B isn’t mainstream anymore.”
Quote:
Anna - SIMon1120 - 8 - I haven't seen this movie but the song seems like a good choice. of course it's also an easy/safe choice, since Beyoncé is a part of the movie and due to that, it's also representing her character more than the whole movie, but it still fits.
Quote:
Alexz - 8.5 - Not a classic, but definitely a great song, every time I hear this song I got chills, Beyoncé vocals are insane, in fact , when I think about this song I remember the scene where's she's recording it.
7. xAyana - Taylor Swift - Eyes Open - The Hunger Games
Quote:
Dillon - 7 - Your entries have been really...average so far. I prefer this song personally to Safe & Sound but for this round Safe & Sound was a bit better. The movie isn't upbeat like this song. I liked this side of Taylor but it just doesn't scream "THE HUNGER GAMES!" if you see what I mean.
Quote:
Ray Bass: 6. “Oh dear Ayana, if you were sending a Hunger Games song, you should’ve sent Safe & Sound. I’ve never been a fan of this rock-tingled Swift, song got really old and annoying for me the first week I heard this.”
Quote:
Anna - xAyana - 6 - it's an okay choice, as a more rock-ish song I find it a bit underwhelming and as I said below in the other comments for songs from this soundtrack, I don't quite like the concept of it.
Quote:
Alexz - 8.5 - "Everybody's waiting for you to break down, keep your eyes open" You can tell this song was obviously written from Katniss point of view, I like that this is not your typical Taylor song, it's more rockier and it totally captures the essence of the movie, slow motion scenes of the movie start playing in my mind every time I hear it, and because of that, I think you did great this round.
8. Middle of Selena - Madonna - Vogue - The Devil Wears Prada
Quote:
Dillon - 3 - When you sent me this song I asked what movie. THAT was your first clue to not send this in. I do not think The Devil Wears Prada in any sense. Sure you could say Vogue is like a runway song and the movie is about the fashion industry but that's a LONGGGGG shot. HUGE step down this time around Dhruv.
Quote:
Ray Bass: 7. “I love Vogue but to be honest, I heard this song way too many times before The Devil Wears Prada was even released so I don’t even recall the film when I think of the song.”
Quote:
Anna - Middle of Selena - 2 - I know you had problems finding a song that was not yet taken, but I'm not happy with this choice. from what I get, the song mostly is about dancing and the movie is about fashion? I know they played the song in a scene but this round I expected songs that in a way represent the movie and immediately bring it to mind when you hear it. I don't see that connection here at all.
Quote:
Alexz - 6 - I know you had some problems picking this song, but I gotta be honest, this wasn't a great choice. Yes, the song shares the name of the famous magazine that inspired the movie, but when I think about this amazing movie, I don't think about "Vogue", and vice versa. I know the timezone and other factors influenced your decision, I hope next time you can be faster than a bullet, best of luck boo!
Salani
1. Hugamari - Righteous Brothers - Unchained Melody - Ghost
Quote:
Dillon - 9.5 - I think of Ghost when I hear this! Great movie by the way. SOO MUCHHH better than yur last entry so well done Hugamari
Quote:
Ray Bass: 8. “Classic songs like this will always be classics. Truly a beautiful unchained melody.”
Quote:
Anna - Hugamari - 10 - epic combination, the song itself is a timeless classic and it fits the movie perfectly, which is remarkable since it was written many many years before it. good to see you redeemed yourself after the first round.
Quote:
Alexz - 7 - Such a great song! tho in my opinion this wasn't the strongest choice since I don't quite relate the song to the movie, but still, I gotta give you credit for choosing such a classic.
2. Energy - Santa Esmeralda - Don't Let Me Be Understood - Kill Bill Vol. 1
Quote:
Dillon - 8 - I've never heard this before...or seen the movie to be honest with you. I know the whoel plot of the movie and watched a few clips on youtube. It fits the action of the film but it sounds kinda latin to me. Decent.
Quote:
Ray Bass: 6. “I’ve never heard this song, it sounds too much Latin-flavored, but I would’ve loved if you sent be Kill Bill’s theme song: Battle Without Honor or Humanity, from Tomoyasu Hotei. I swear I instantly recall this movie with that melody, I would’ve easily handed you a perfect score.”
Quote:
Anna - Energy - 9 - the soundtracks for Tarantino's movies are always so peculiar and diverse, I feel like it ties the songs to them even more. I don't know if this is the one song I'd think of for Kill Bill, but I definitely connect it with the movie and it's an awesome song.
Quote:
Alexz - 8.5 - I truly love this version! I instantly think about bullfighting when I hear the flamenco influence on it, similar to the way Uma's character kills. Me gusta.
3. iLukey - Eminem - Lose Yourself - 8 Mile
Quote:
Dillon - 10 - Everyone knows this song. If you don't then you should just die. Obviously represents the movie and that's pretty much all I can say about this one. Your Second 10 from me!
Quote:
Ray Bass: 10. “Eminem’s biggest hit from his career comes from this movie. Lose Yourself is one of those songs we’ve all heard, there’s no way one could go wrong by sending this as your entry in a Soundtrack round. Excellent!”
Quote:
Anna - iLukey - 10 - one of Eminem's best songs and it undeniably stands for this movie, that's all I can say about this.
Quote:
Alexz - 9 - I gotta be honest, Eminem is definitely not one of my favorite musicians, just like Rap is not my cup of tea, but the song definitely reflects what the movie is about and that's all that matters, I still can't believe it won an Oscar tho, nevertheless, you did great this round!
4. Adr - Aerosmith - I Don't Want To Miss a Thing - Aerosmith - Armageddon
Quote:
Dillon - 10 - This is actually on the level of the first example as Anna said. I do think of the song when I think of the move. Great song + theme of a movie = 10. Your second 10 as well from myself.
Quote:
Ray Bass: 10. “Probably one of the most iconic soundtrack themes of the 90’s, just besides My Heart Will Go On by Celine Dion. I swear Adrian, if the other judges don’t give you a 10, they’re probably biased against rock songs, because this one is an iconic classic.”
Quote:
Anna - Adr - 10 - oh my goodness. this song is one of the few songs that's on the same level as My Heart Will Go On, one of the most perfect soundtrack songs ever. it fits the movie 100% and everyone knows where it's from. you couldn't have chosen a better song.
Quote:
Alexz - 10 - This song is such an anthem, I cry every time I heart it, probably one of the greatest best songs ever written, and the fact that you instantly think about "Armageddon" when the song is played makes it a fantastic choice for this round. Well done!
5. Stevie - Bees Gees - Stayin' Alive - Saturday Night Fever
Quote:
Dillon - 9 - John Travolta...the closet door is open. But on topic this represents the movie for the most part. I've heard it in so many other movies that it takes away the focus on this film though. Other than that it's nice.
Quote:
Ray Bass: 8.5. “Discoooooooooooo fever!!! My dad would’ve so gave you a perfect 10 Stevie, this is a nice entry. They couldn’t have selected better soundtrack songs for this film other than the Bee Gees and maybe Donna Summers.”
Quote:
Anna - Stevie - 10 - do I really need to say anything about this? if you don't know why this is a 10, I'm praying for you.
Quote:
Alexz - 9 - Ah, ha, ha, ha, Sayin' Alive, in this island full of backstabbers. based on your desicion, I think you will be just fine! One of the most popular movies of the 70s, both the song and the movie go hand in hand, everyone relates the song to the movie, and vice versa.
6. nezlaos - Elton John - Circle of Life - Lion King
Quote:
Dillon - 9.5 - This song basically is The Lion King so it works almost perfectly. I just don't think anyone really thinks of this without seeing the movie and hearing the song reminding them of it. Unique choice!
Quote:
Ray Bass: 7. “Yeah it’s a good song, but I can’t see this standing alone as a song without recalling The Lion King’s opening scene.”
Quote:
Anna - nezlaos - 10 - this is not just the soundtrack for The Lion King, this song IS The Lion King! flawless!
Quote:
Alexz - 10 - This song, along with Outlaw's entry, are my childhood in a nutshell, so many good memories attached to this song, the image of Rafiki presenting Simba to the the other animals instantly comes to mind when I hear or read the title. One of the best and strongest entries in this round. Well done!
7. johnrm - Taylor Swift & The Civil Wars - Safe & Sound - The Hunger Games
Quote:
Dillon - 8 - The Hunger Games Soundtrack didn't really impress me. This was a better representation than Eyes Open imo since the film was a bit somber but I think you need to step out of your comfort zone next round.
Quote:
Ray Bass: 10. “Flawless. I would’ve loved if Taylor had taken this direction with her new album. The folk sounds that The Civil Wars add do nothing wrong to this masterpiece song from The Hunger Games.”
Quote:
Anna - johnrm - 7 - like I explained in nills's comment, I don't know The Hunger Games. I know this song, though, and it seems a bit more interesting and unique to me than others on the soundtrack.
Quote:
Alexz - 7.5 - Tho the song was created for the movie "Hunger Games" I personally think it doesn't quite reflects it as a whole, I generally think about the scene when Katniss tries to protect Rue, protecting her innocence from a cruel world. Love the song but for me it wasn't the best choice.
8. Outlaw - Randy Newman - You've Got A Friend in Me - Toy Story
Quote:
Dillon - 8.5 - Another cute entry. You think outside the box for sure. This isn't anything special but I think of it when I think of Toy Story. Pretty good.
Quote:
Ray Bass: 4. “This song makes me puke. Seriously, so so so overrated and cheesy.”
Quote:
Anna - Outlaw - 8 - I have not seen the Toy Story movies yet I get the feeling that this is an adequate soundtrack for them. a short, simple song about friendship that's also suitable for the young target audience of the movie. nice.
Quote:
Alexz - 10 - Every kid born in the 90s knows and loves this amazing song, there's no exception, such a simply but yet meaningful song, one of my favorites, if not, my favorite song on this round. This song was Toy Story. Uh-mazing hottie!

1. DripDrip - Phil Collins - You'll Be In My Heart - Tarzan
Quote:
Dillon - 10 - Tarzan. I see you Rosie. This song is so adorable although I think I had the Teddy Geiger version when i was little Very nice Jeremy. You'll be in my heart
Quote:
Ray Bass: 9. “Cute ballad overall, this is the entry that made me go awww. A bit cheesy but it works for the movie anyways, so nicely done.”
Quote:
Anna - DripDrip - 10 - Phil Collins's songs for Tarzan are amazing, I just love what he did. it's kinda like Elton John and The Lion King, something that will always stand out for me in the soundtrack category.
Quote:
Alexz - 8.5 - Disney is probably one of the few film companies that care about the movie soundtrack as much as the movie, and I love that about them..I personally, I think about "Two Worlds" when someone mentions the movie, but that's just me, tho I still think you made a great choice, not to mention this song won an Academy award.
2. iggie45 - Goo Goo Dolls - Iris - City of Angels
Quote:
Dillon - 9 - I LOVE THIS SONG. It's perfect. Never seen the movie but I read the plot and watched a few clips and it seems to fit. This song ***** on my faves tbh. An improvement Iggie!
Quote:
Ray Bass: 6.5. “I’ve never used this song, I’ve never gotten why is so popular. It’s average at its best, but some will do the best from it and most probably you’ll getting nice reviews from the other judges for this overrated as hell GGD song. Although I’ll give yoy points because I always recall Cage’s scenes on City of Angels with this song”
Quote:
Anna - iggie45 - 10 - I don't know the movie and I didn't really know the song either, but I can totally see how they are related to each other. the song basically described the movie in a really touching and beautiful way.
Quote:
Alexz - 9 - One of the most popular songs of the band, and the fact that they included the song later in their Dd talks about how well the song was received, I think I know the movie where this was included (tho I might be wrong), regardless, I think it was a good choice.
3. Jack.- The Citizens of Halloween Town - This Is Halloween - The Nightmare Before Christmas
Quote:
Dillon - 7 - Never liked this movie for some reason This was most obviously made for the movie I mean...it's just a mess though. I think you'regoing a bit too far with the being different strategy. Don't go generic though if you think that's what I'm saying. Decent entry.
Quote:
Ray Bass: 3. “Oh hell no… this entry makes your Cher & Sonny entry looks flawless. I’m definitely not here for this mess of a song. So many songs to choose from, and you send this? Sometimes different is not always successful”
Quote:
Anna - Jack. - 10 - I still have to watch this movie but I know it's about Halloween so the song seems spot on with its spooky/grotesque vibe. this is also a pretty brave choice, I guess you took to heart what I said about your last submission being kinda safe!
Quote:
Alexz - 8.5 - I used to despise this movie so much because Disney aired it a lot back in the day, I still haven't watched it in its entirety, probably because I don't like this type of movies, but anyway, the song was obviously created specifically for the movie, so I think it was a good choice, not the strongest one, but still, you will do just fine this round!
4. nills - Birdy - Just A Game - The Hunger Games
Quote:
Dillon - 6 - Not the best choice. I wouldn't think "The Hunger Games" when I hear this. There was alot of Hunger Games entries but this wasn't the best one. Better luck next round.
Quote:
Ray Bass: 8.5. “You know nills, I’ve never heard of Birdie until I got the opportunity to listen to them via the Hunger Games release, and then I heard the rest of her music. She has this sweet but powerful voice that reminds me of a young Amy Lee. I’m in love with her, besides, she’s gorgeous as ***** and that gets points from me. ”
Quote:
Anna - nills - 6 - I'm probably the only person in the world who hasn't read the books/seen the movie for this, so Idk. I'm not sure how I feel about the soundtrack which apparently focused on getting all kinds of musicians to contribute instead of going for one signature song. this seems to fit the theme, but it doesn't stand out to me that much.
Quote:
Alexz - 5 - Not the best choice, Nills, it's a good song and it was obviously in the Soundtrack, but the song doesn't represents the movie,if you played the song to someone, I don't think they will instantly think about the movie, and for me, that was the purpose of this round.
5. SyntaxError - Taylor Swift & The Civil Wars - Safe & Sound - The Hunger Games
Quote:
Dillon - 8 - SO MANY HUNGER GAMES ENTRIES. and all of them failed to do much of anything. Last round was better for you Syntax. You didn't fall too hard though so don't worry.
Quote:

Ray Bass: 10. “Flawless. I would’ve loved if Taylor had taken this direction with her new album. The folk sounds that The Civil Wars add do nothing wrong to this masterpiece song from The Hunger Games.”

Anna - SyntaxError - 7 - same as above, only that I know this song, and it seems a bit more special than others.

6. ImARudeBoy - Whitney Houston - I Will Always Love You - The Bodyguard
Quote:
Dillon - 10 - I hate giving this a 10 since it was so predictable But it's iconic and her most known song. Good job snatching this one before someone else did.

Ray Bass: 10. “Predictable, safe, but an iconic anthem, there’s not many things to say from Whitney Houston’s signature song. There’s absolutely no way this isn’t a 10, unless you’re deducted points for this being too predictable.”

Anna - ImARudeBoy - 9 - yes, this is another iconic soundtrack song and everyone knows it's from this movie, but there's something about it that bothers me. I can't quite put my finger on it, maybe it's the fact that it's a cover.

Alexz - 10 - One of the most iconic (but not ATRL iconic) and popular songs of the last decades, just like Jolie's Lips entry, when the song starts playing, I instantly think about that scene in which Rachel is in the arms of his bodyguard, So far, you have been very consistent with your entries, the other Survivors better watch out because you are coming hard!

7. MusicLoverDude - Miley Cyrus - The Climb - Hannah Montana: The Movie
Quote:

Dillon - 5.5 - Yes this has something to do with the movie. But it could have easily been on one of her studio albums just as an album trackwhich is what really brings them down. Sending Disney songs is only going to get you far if you play socially as Timmy did last season. Step out of your comfort zone.

Ray Bass: 4. “Why does everyone keeps thinking The Climb is some sort of good entry? This was a hit just because Miley sang it tbqh. I mean, even Butterfly Fly Away would’ve gotten a better score from me. I need you to step out of your comfort zone MLD, and stop sending me Disney Channel songs. I need to know you’re a true survivor by seeing you’re capable of defying different genres according to the rounds themes.”

Anna - MusicLoverDude - 5 - this is similar to the Beyoncé song, a really safe choice since Miley also plays in the movie and of course it fits but I find it a little boring. there were so many great possibilities for this challenge and I feel like you just desperately wanted to use Miley.

Alexz - 8 - Oh how I love this song so much, I'm still mad at Disney for withdrawing it from the Academy Awards, it could have won tbh, I still get the chills every time I hear it, a great choice for this round!

Not me getting a 4, 6, 3, and 10. Like, what kind of rollercoaster judging?
