This has got to be the 2038209482nd time I’ve heard “Wanted (Dead or Alive)” performed by a mildly country-rock crossover artist on a voting night. I realize that some people really like that kind of music, and that’s fine. They’re entitled to do so. But the same song every time? Do the producers even care about how many times this has been done? They have the power to share any music in the world with an audience of millions and they’re essentially repeating the same songs over and over, and it doesn’t necessarily benefit anyone.
I think that’s my issue with the way “mainstream” propagates itself. I love plenty of pop music. It’s a known fact that I stan hard for Gaga, think “We Found Love” by Rihanna is a masterpiece and can break it down to Madonna with confidence and precision. I absolutely ****ing hate radio, though. It’s not the music they play, necessarily (though I must say we’ve seen some dark ages in our lifetimes - “Crank Dat,” anyone?). It’s how often they play it, and how limited the selection is. It drives me crazy when my room mate willingly listens to the same ~30 songs on loop while playing League of Legends. It drives me crazy when a song gets played twice at a prom or similar event - how ****ing lazy could a DJ be? Are you even a real DJ, to not have the skill and intuition to just create, respond to and/or maintain a vibe? Maybe it’s my collector mentality coming out, but I just can’t understand it. It’s almost as if many people are too lazy to become inspired enough to explore beyond a comfort zone, or even just deeper into the qualities that create said comfort zone.
I guess what I’m wondering is kind of…strange, maybe a bit paradoxical, or confused, or misguided, who knows: why are people so comfortable getting too comfortable with something?

Belle, you better let it all out, son. I agree with you.
