Maine (asked to legalize gay marraige)
Yes - 51%
No - 48%
Marryland (ask to legalize gay marraige)
Yes - 51%
No- 49%

This is the first time voters have approved of same-sex marriage on a ballot. Any other time was done by a court decision or sometimes state legislative.
