Not to say gay rights aren't important, but Politics covers a lot of terrain and people have different concerns at heart. Whether they're employed, whether their family is financially secure.

Exactly, they don't care about anyone else. They think they are going to be lose everything if the other party wins. Here's a wake up call: they won't. That's not how the government works. If Obama wins, he isn't going to come into your home and take your money and food. Lost your job? Perhaps the economy is tanking. Why is the economy tanking? Oh, I don't know, perhaps it's because the economy works on a cycle of prosperity and failure and there is absolutely nothing either political party can LEGALLY do to stop this. The general public fears this truth. They never want failure. When it comes, they blame someone or something. It's inevitable, just like death. If Romney wins, he isn't going to beat your children to a pulp or eat your lunch and laugh. People have this huge fear that their lives are somehow the most valuable in all of the country when some people can't even legally marry someone else. Something that simple is considered irrelevant to them because it doesn't affect them financially.
