TLC planning first album in 10 years; new biopic details
Just over 10 years after the release of their last album, TLC is ready to get back in the studio.
The R&B duo, announced during an appearance at the Mobo Awards in the UK over the weekend that a new album, and biopic are in the works.
"We're going to still sound like TLC, evolving to whatever level we need to be at this time," T-Boz told the BBC. "We've always grown throughout the years and have always had our own sound. That's what works for us and we don't have to worry about anybody else.
"When that stops working, maybe we'll hang up the towel, but that still works. We have to get into the studio and start feeling how we feel. You have to find yourself first and then you find the path and then you have an album before you know it."
The record, which has no announced release date, comes just over a decade after the death of Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes who lost her life in a car accident, a tragic ending which ran eerily similar to that of Blaque member, Natina Reed. The 32-year-old was hit by a car just shy of her 33rd birthday, and was introduced to the mainstream by Lopes.
Given her untimely death, the remaining two members of TLC were said to be putting together a performance with Lopes as a hologram, but have yet to confirm plans to go forward with the idea.
In addition to the album, they are also auditioning actors to portray them in the forthcoming bio to air on VH1.
Did Left Eye write/produce the majority of their tracks she wasn't featured on?
Because as empty as it would feel without her, many of their best songs don't feature her voice at all. I think they could pull off a lot just between the two of them.
If it's good, I'm here for it. A lot of their commercial singles didn't have Lisa present anyways as much of a mess that was. But T-Boz and Chilli are capable vocalists.

I'm so here for it, I still deeply miss Left Eye but I'm interested in what Chili & T-Boz has in store. I will always support them. TLC will always remain.
T-Boz and Chilli have appeared on many tracks without lefteye even when she was alive. She was the creative one though. Image and concept wise. give us Left Eye and Aaliyah back.
