I'm too lazy to go read through the rules again, is there any kind of time limit on the rates? I feel like 2-3 weeks for voting and a week for results should be sufficient. Why do they need to drag on for 2+ months?
And I can understand there being a sign up for rates so there aren't multiple threads of similar rates, etc. But why the need to be so specific on timing, etc.? What does it matter if there's one or two more rates going on than there currently are? Especially when some of them go days and days and days with no updates or anything
Sorry, I don't mean to sound like I'm just bitching (which I am) but I just don't really get it. Is it a mod issue where the threads get too messy and time consuming to maintain?

I try not to rush rates, as I don't think participants know how taxing it is to host a rate. I don't think most rate hosts know until they host them themselves. There's a lot that goes into it - namely, the tiring compiling of votes. That takes forever! The promo, the graphics, it's a lot of headache.
We all have real lives, and **** happens. Things get in the way, and to enforce a time limit would frankly be unfair.
But I do see your concerns. I think, for now, all big rates should have two hosts - a main host, and a co-host who receives all voting data and graphics in case life/school/work get hectic (or, in genetic fail's case, in case the main host gets banned on a monthly schedule.)
In terms of the type of rate - ideally, I would like two singles rates, two discography rates, one blockbuster/two niche rates and three artist rates - two current, one classic - to be running at once. That way everything is represented.
