Korn were top-notch. Aside from playing 4 songs during another KROQ show back in March, this was their first non-acoustic performance since September of last year, and they did fantastic with Joey Jordison [Slipknot] on drums. The new single "Evolution" needs some work, and "Freak on a Leash" and "Coming Undone" should be given a rest as they did not sound good live. "Good God"[!], "Divine" and "Blind" alone put Korn at the top of my ranking.
They should have headlined, IMO. I loved the new additions that enhanced the beginning to "Here to Stay" and the bridge to "Falling Away from Me". Korn made them a lot more interesting.
Linkin Park were not bad, sans "Bleed It Out", which is awful. "Breaking the Habit", "Papercut", "Faint" and "Points of Authority" were my favorites by them. Bad Religion, Tiger Army, Tim and Social D all did amazing jobs, it was difficult to rank them. QOTSA did not disappoint. Brandon and Mike from Incubus made a huge surprise appearance in place of The Killers, starting off with a male choir singing "Dig", which was pretty hardcore.
Rise Against were not bad either, but not very good. I'm not a fan of The Bravery--old or new, so they were whatever. I was
literally falling asleep during Silversun Pickups, and Peter Bjorn & John were an absolute waste of time. Even Interpol were more enthusiastic than those guys. Plain White T's just plain white sucked, and 30 Seconds to Mars take the cake as the worst band at the Weenie Roast this year. Jared needs to quit showing off and just get through more than 5 lousy songs. 30 Seconds to STFU is more like it.
The webcast crew stepped up their game this time around, and "K-Fed/Britney" were quite entertaining. Where was Dude though?
A+. I enjoyed myself and the concert.
