I will say that despite album sales Janey had waaayyy more chart success than MJ did in the 90s. That I will agree with

But what are the actual sales of most of those Michael albums in the US? your comparing an overcertified artist to an undercertified artist. janet. is 6x platinum but actually has sold beyond 8 million if you count Soundscan and BMG sales, TVR is beyond 4 million and AFY has just passed the 3 million mark.

If you want to dig that deep then you can. When and how is MJ so much over-certified than her??? This is just US sales not Worldwide. If it was worldwide I would agree to a certain extent.

Even if Janet is so criminally undercertified as you state, I highly doubt she has solds millions of any of those albums since then. Be realistic

Sales are almost the same, but Janet's radio/singles performance was superior from the 90's onwards. That's not an opinion if we're talking US.

Not really because Michael was always HUGELY popular here in the UK. There is no more stigma attached to him here than there is anywhere else in the world. His Greatest Hits album even debuted at #1 during the trial.

As far as Janet's success in the UK goes, she was popular for some time and is definitely a household name but she's never had Michael or Madonna level type success. She did do a UK arena tour years ago, but tbh lots of people aren't too familiar with her music but say if they heard 'Control', or 'Rhythm Nation', or 'That's The Way Love Goes', or 'All For You', they would recognize it. And plus, 'Scream' was popular here'.

Being "more popular than" is not just about record sales. It's about star power, commercial reliability, etc. And there was indeed a time when Janet was more popular than MJ. I know it's a tough pill to swallow, but the facts are facts.
