Discussion: Can we discuss transphobia?

In order to actually respond to the OP, I think the general problem is the lack of education regarding transgendered people. First step would be to explain that sexual orientation, gender identity, and gender expression are NOT the same thing at all. Second, would be to get rid of the binary concept. Then after that we can tackle gender stereotypes.

I can somewhat understand someone being born with the wrong "parts" per se, but how can someone be born the wrong sex?

Mind >>>> body
Imagine you just woke up in the opposite gender's body (kind of like Freaky Friday), does that magically make you that gender? That's how they feel.

Read about it.

It's not a biological thing though. You're either born a sex and that's biological but just because you want to for example do all the things women are "supposed to do" (determined by society) like wear dresses, make-up and all those stereotypical things it doesn't make you into a female! It doesn't make you in to a male "born with wrong parts". It's just a guy liking more the stuff people say are for women, 500 years ago pink was a color that was typically manly and blue was a color typically "womanly" (determined by society) and those things change all the time! I see nothing wrong with guys wanting to do "girl things" and vice versa but it's not a biological thing and they're not and never will be the other sex.

I can't believe you just said it's cause a guy wants to do girl things.
Unless I misread you.

Nothing wrong with that at all It just looked like to me that was the sole reason for going female.

It's not JUST that though. That's a part of gender dysphoria but it can also mean that you're uncomfortable having a penis or a vagina and surgery is the only way to make you feel comfortable about it. I have a trans* friend and that's what they told me anyway.

Biologically speaking at their core they have respective sexual organs, however they can become the other sex with hormone replacement therapy and gender reassignment surgery. I'm not sure what you're arguing, but if a male wants to become a woman, it's not because he wants to do "girly things", it's because he's experiencing cognitive dissonance between who he feels he is and what his body is telling him.

It's because of those feminine gays who change their sex and give bad reputation to these people, I'm talking about those guys who feel like real girls with no biological reason, but if the boy has a vagina and changes his sex, I don't see the problem, he was born with a vagina and grew up as a feminine boy "not gay".
Another case, if they just have extra female hormones, I think it won't be that complicated, and it doesn't need sexual transmission.

Stop conflating gender and sex. At this point, it's not because you genuinely don't know, it's because you're refusing to look at what's being presented to you. That's not only ignorance, it's stupidity.

The LGBT etc. community reeks to high heaven with transphobia. Sure, everyone has their prejudices, but the rest of the LGBT community is extremely violent, whether physically or verbally, in relation to any trans* individuals. I personally think that it's sadly ironic, given that they treat the trans* community exactly as heteronormative western society has treated anyone else in the LGBT community for hundreds of years. Homosexuality, bisexuality, and the like will be very widely accepted in the near future, but I see it being quite a long time before any sort of non-cisgender people are near-fully accepted in our society.

This.
Although I think a lot of trans people regarded as attractive are given a much easier time than those who aren't. Shallow but true.
