I listened to this album for the first time tonight and I realized that this album is a ****ing BOP! But I noticed that this Madonna album is not well-received by ATRL. I just want to know why is that?
I actually like Hard Candy, it's really underrated.
It has a lot of good songs (She's Not Me, Give It 2 Me, Devil Wouldn't Recognize You, Candy Shop, Heartbeat, Miles Away, Incredible, 4 minutes) and it's different from anything else in her discography.
I don't know why either. It's actually a decent album. Much better than MDNA to be honest.
But yeah. I think people say they don't like it, because of how Confessions was such a high for Madonna.
It's like Born This Way after The Fame Monster. A step-down in quality.. yet, still decent.
This album is actually great, it's just a let down in her overall discography (especially after Confessions). I remember talking with adrianbeane about how COADF underperforming in the US probably made her go to more contemporary US producers instead of European producers like Mirwais and Stuart Price. But a lot of these songs are pretty underrated. The singles are great. CS, Heartbeat, DWRY, Voices, Dance 2night, and SNM are pretty damn good too. Incredible and BGO are good enough. The only trash songs on the whole album are Spanish Lesson and Ring My Bell. I think it's just the fact that she tried to be more commercial + her whole forced "sexiness" thing that turns people away from the album
