Hey I was just wondering if any of the gay people on ATRL think that their sexuality has any impact on their music taste?

For example, would you stan for Gaga because of her gay rights support, or would you stan for Jessie because of her loving message?

I know a gay man who stans for Nicki because her music sounds 'gay' (according to him) and he also is a fan of orange juice with his morning breakfast.

Well I'm bi and I don't think it has anything to do with it. I listen to a variety of music: pop, indie, rock, pop punk, some metal. It never makes me think of my sexuality

I didn't think your DNA had anything to do with music taste. Is there a new code in our DNA's telling us what music we like?

Most of the gay people stan for female singers so I think the answer is obvious. It's a cliche but it's real.

A lot of my straight friends are obsessed with Taylor Swift tho

We've never been straight so we don't know what our music taste would be like if we were...

I just know I like Ke$ha, Lana Del Rey, and Lady Gaga. I mean, it's pretty gay.

Tbh I think most people like female pop stars. All of my straight friends have at least one pop girl that they stan for. They're just less open about it because it's considered "gay". But music doesn't have a sexuality or a gender. That's kind of laughable.

No...I think being gay allows you to be open to more things including music.

I'm straight, and listen to all types of music (Pop, Rap, R&B, Rock, Alternative, Reggae, my iPod has it all). I only talk about Pop, and sometimes Rap on here though, since it's all I ever see other people talk about. I don't really care what people stand for, I'm here for the music first and foremost.

Gay men aren't typically ashamed of liking female pop singers, whereas straight men are scolded. I would think that if society was more accepting, we'd see a lot more straight men admitting they listen to Rihanna, Ke$ha, Gaga, etc...

I know some straight men who love musicals like Rent, and I can't stand them for the most part. It's honestly just based on what you like.

Every straight person I know proudly stans for a female pop artist, whether it's a legend like Mariah Carey or Whitney or Madonna, or even newer pop stars. My uncle stans for Madonna (he wanted to hear her perform Like a Virgin at the superbowl) and he's been married with two adult children for over 25 years (not that that's saying much anymore because of Joe Simpson, LOL). The only people I've seen gay people stan for in real life are Lady Gaga or Beyonce (every gay black man I know stans for her, like for example a couple of my cousins as well as classmates).
