^LOL I really love Rihanna, I like Beyonce. I think both are talented (Beyonce on a not much higher level) but Rihanna has more appeal on me.

There are many things I disagree with in this quote. To start though, let me just say that I have no problems with the Navy whatsoever. Whatever criticisms I have for Rihanna would be given to Beyonce if she were to do the same. I admit I'm biased as far as what I'm interested in, but not in regards to objectivity.

I don't really agree with the statement that Rihanna will be more remembered in 10 years. It does seem more likely that Rihanna will be the one still making hits in 10 years (she's younger, is more relentless, does pop music) but that doesn't mean that people will have forgotten Beyonce. Did people forget Tina Turner in 2000? Or Diana Ross? Or Aretha?

Lastly, I'm proud for more reasons than critical acclaim and awards (and that "buying" awards angle is getting really tired. I'm sure that there's a secret section on iTunes for purchasing Grammys, right?). This whole Navy vs. Hive thing is annoying for everyone involved. I think we can all agree on that. It's stupid that people's opinions are made before there is even a topic to talk about. I don't have an opinion on Rihanna based on the fact that I love Beyonce. And I don't love Beyonce just because she's Beyonce. I love Beyonce because of the standards I have in regards to what a recording artist should be, and what I think constitutes the best. It's easy to see a Beyonce avatar and label the opinion next to it. And vice versa. We need to realize that sometimes an opinion is an opinion, not an attack. (And then also realize that some people are just attacking because they are insecure about their favourite).

I think Rihanna is in a completely different league to Beyonce.

Rihanna is in the Madonna/Jessie J league, whilst Beyonce is in the Avril/Christina league.

Sorry but that is just my opinion.

But do you really think that Rihanna is as talented as Beyonce at what she does? Singing? Dancing? Songwriting? Performing? I don't really want to get into a huge discussion about this, but objectively, what do you think? All your points about her husband and the game and the media all centre around that one point, so I want to know what you really see the problem is.
