Taylor has the luxury of playing to both mainstream and country audiences (and to an extent, adult contemporary.) She's a crossover act. A huge name in country music (the most loyal audience) and also a pop star with a massive teen following. Britney didn't have a diverse audience or support across multiple formats back when “Oops!” was released. Her audience consisted entirely of pre-teens still asking for allowances. The numbers she pulled were a testament to the immense phenomenon she was at her peak. The fact that no female managed to break the record for over twelve years speaks volumes.
