confirms rumored lyrics to got me good: "my backs achin', my bra too tight. my booty shakin from left to right"
It looks as though Ciara is beginning to turn up the promo for her new single, ‘Got Me Good’ off of her upcoming ‘One Woman Army’ LP. She recently announced via twitter that the new track, will be released on her birthday, which is this coming Thursday, October 25. In the meantime, VH1 has released a behind the scenes video which was filmed in the desert, and show Ciara showing off her moves with the help of the dance group, 8 Flavahs, from America’s Best Dance Crew. ‘I saw these girls [dance] and I said, I really want to rock with them,’ she told VH1 News.
We recently caught up with Ciara, during her promo stop in New York, and she had this tea to spill about the new single:
Quote:
I did the video with Joseph Kahn and it’s definitely a tempo record. It’s turnt up! It’s really fun and I did it with my friend Rodney Jerkins and I co-wrote it with another friend of mine, Libby. Just get ready to turn the crank up, and shake…break your back a little bit. **sings** ‘My back is aching, my bra too tight, my booty shaking to the left and the right’.
I’m doing the single 1A and single 1B, so ‘Sorry’ was single 1A, and the answer to [Sorry] is 1B, which is ‘Got Me Good’. Those two just make a cool marriage. ‘Got Me Good’ is living in the moment of being ‘Got Good’. Like when someone makes you feel real good and no one can make you feel like they feel. So it’s ‘you got me good’, then it’s ‘you had me good’ and then it got to the point where a ‘Sorry’ was necessary. [laughs]
Finally She's starting to give more personality in these interviews I love it... I think LA Reids plan is to keep Ci in our faces all the way up until the album drops... this is the first time in a loooooong time Ciara didn't wait until the week of the Album drop to do promo
I want to take a quick moment to apologize for the slow updates since last week. I have literally been running and hustling behind the scenes like my rent is 6 months past due (LOL!) but it’s all fun stuff and I’ll chat about it later, plus we had some issues with our servers which are now fixed.
Anyway, on Tuesday I had the opportunity to interview Ciara. Now, I’m gonna be completely honest, I have only met Ciara twice and they were both in club settings so I did not get to talk to her outside of a quick ‘Hi’ and maybe snap a photo. I recently watched a few interviews to get a sense of her personality and I picked up that she may be just a little guarded. So, I was already prepared for her to not answer certain questions or give me rehearsed mundane answers that she may have drummed up for each interview.
I say all of that to say, Ciara surprised me. She was very open and very honest. Most of all, she was relatable. What I found is that she is in love with the idea of love. She has worked so hard for the things that she has accomplished and her career has taken up so much of her time that now she is starting to think more and more about, ‘who is the person that I am going to be able to share all of this with? Who will be the person that I travel the world with’? No one wants to take the journey alone. As a woman, that particular part of the interview touched me because sometimes we look at these celebs and feel as though they have it all. She said, ‘Without love, it’s almost like you have nothing. That’s not living’. I felt that. [Just a quick sidenote: Ciara's parents have been married for 28 years, her grandparents for 50 years].
We aren’t done editing the interview yet, but I am able to share a behind-the-scenes video that features the outtakes from the interview. Anyone that reads my personal blogs and have been on this journey with me since the beginning knows that I continuously talk about my fear of being in front of cameras. So when I was offered a drink [straight no chaser], to relax and calm my nerves while I waited, I gladly accepted. [And let's just say, I would have definitely been fired if I worked for someone.] If you don’t face your fears, you’ll never find out your true potential.
‘I can rock the stage all day but just knowing that my baby is there when I get home. That’s the icing on the cake’ -Ciara
Last week, I interviewed Ciara and I must say it was quite an interesting experience. First thing first, anyone who has read my old blog entries know that on-camera interviewing is a challenge for me. It’s just something that I’ve never been comfortable with and for that reason alone, I don’t do them often. [the exception has been Amber Rose, Big Sean and Lala]
Last year, I ran into Angie Martinez at an event in Los Angeles and I told her how much I loved her and how when I use to work in radio, I downloaded her interviews after her show every single day just to study her interviewing techniques. I said, ‘You are amazing at interviewing’ and she responded, ‘I would think so after 20 years’. That was a reminder to me that anyone who has ever been great at anything, has practiced, practiced, practiced their craft. How am I ever going to get comfortable interviewing celebs in front of the cameras if I don’t practice at it? You just don’t step in front of the cameras and become Barbara Walters or Oprah overnight. After I thought about this carefully, I promised myself this year that I was going to challenge myself, face my fears and I was going to take this thing head on… so here I am.
Now Back to Ciara…
Before the interview even started I had a glass of wine and a shot of vodka (I know I know, tragic..but I had to calm my nerves. I was a wreck). Ciara finally arrived and we just about had on the same shirt. Like, you can’t make this stuff up..lol!
Despite all of the behind the scenes stuff that was going on, I really enjoyed the interview. Ciara was very open and wasn’t as guarded as I had expected her to be. I learned, just from my observation, that she still loves and cares for a certain rapper. She’s completely over Amar’e Stoudemire and happy for his engagement because she feels as though, he did what was right for his situation and family. She’s a hopeless romantic. Over the years, her career has taken up a lot of her time and now she wants to find someone that she can take the journey with; to share her success with and travel the world with. I believe I had somewhat of a wake up call during our interview, because she expressed a lot of things that I have been thinking about a lot but never really expressed. I too, wanted to experience the feeling of being loved and in love. She said, ‘without love, you have nothing. At least in my book‘.
If you go back and look at Ciara’s videos and performances, (‘Promise’, ‘Like A Boy’, ‘Oh’, ‘Goodies’, ‘Get Up’ and so on), it’s clear that she has the ‘It’ factor, but I think what has been holding her back for a few years is that people felt as though they didn’t know who she was as a person. They didn’t feel connected. My only hope is that after watching the interview, that people feel as though she is someone that they can relate to.
She was dope!
she can write all these articles but cant release the interview dsfkhlsfj;
