But not because they are really more influential than Jackson. The general public (Youtube, etc) has a different opinion actually. This is just ATRL, after all. Michael just beat Madonna in the other thread and Elvis in this thread. At the end of the day, these are just ATRL polls. Nothing scientific here.

Hard to compare artists from 2 completely different times.

Without Elvis we would be listening to second world war era music from a wooden radio and French pop singers on US radio.

Without MJ the public wouldn't buy music after the end of the disco hype. The labels copied each other so much that the public got tired and record stores returned the records to the labels. MJ did set trends, saved the industry,...

I choose Elvis. Without him, pop music would be awful.

Impact - Tie. Elvis broke down Doors for Rock n Roll, while Michael helped break down racial barriers with MTV
Legacy - Tie. As stated above
Influence - Elvis, He's influenced much more important musicians then Anyone Michael's influenced, John Lennon stated that "if there were no Elvis, there would be no Beatles". Bob Dylan and Bruce Springsteen have always comment on how much of a Legend he was and how he helped broke doors down for the rock era.
