And for the rest of them it's because schedule clashes with the voice, baseball games, competition from big brother finale, and survivor that gets 10m+ ratings. And the presidential debate.

The ratings you posted where the ratings for the sudden rescheduled episode that aired on Tuesday. It was a sudden move, with no promotion of the rescheduling, and the episode was cut down from 2 hours to one. Normally, The X Factor averages 9-10 million in viewers and mid 3's in the demo. Those are great ratings for a network like FOX, which has been on a steep decline this year. It's the best ratings performer it has on the slate. The only shows doing relatively well on FOX apart from the X Factor is New Girl (which has dropped a lot compared to last year), Glee and Bones, all of which have declined in ratings as compared to last year.

tHIS year's x factor is really entertaining compared to last year's .....Fox screwed it up, it was struggling to maintain a decent 9-10 M average viewership but the mess that happened in the last 2 weeks put a nail in the show's coffin

besides Britney is not a reality TV star ..... to be honest I prefer she debuts at #1 on Billboard 200, has several top 10 hits during the year, tour the world, receives 100M airplay impressions by her own, etc ... than just getting some ratings on a show that is just an extra activity in her life.

leave that to the reality show / infomercial forces like "Xtina" .. since is the only thing she can do right now while her new song just flops harder than "Not myself tonight".

...Apparently you don't watch the show. Last week, the delayed baseball game cut into the ratings. Considering only a PORTION of the show was show & it STILL hit decent numbers is astonishing.

According to Billboard tho, the show has been averaging 10.6 million viewers & a 3.9 rating which is shockingly good! ^_^

At least y'all can stop blaming Nicole Scherzinger for the ratings last year, since season 1 rating-wise is a smash compared to season 2.

But if this panel was on season 1 it would've smashed harder. It's just the fact that season 1 was really bad so why would you watch season 2

I think that Paula Abdul and Nicole just ruined The X-factor .... after season 1 people weren't excited on watching it again ....

I think if they had a surefire ratings magnet such as Legend X on the judging panel, the show would be performing better. Just my opinion.
