He may be known as The Weeknd, but Drake’s fellow Toronto-based artist is proving to not be a weak man. Know why? Because even though the Canadian R&B recording artist – whose real name is Abel Tesfaye – is endorsed by Drake, sources say he recently turned down a recording deal offered up by Drake and YMCMB Records.
An industry insider exclusively tells HSK The Weeknd wants no part in being tied to a slave contract, unlike his predecessor. We’re told since he said no to signing up with YMCMB, the other Canadian kid has struck a partnership deal with Universal Republic.
Quote:
“Drake took The Weeknd to Baby to get a record deal. Remember Drake introduced The Weeknd to the spotlight.
Drake figured The Weeknd would have signed to him, but he was wrong. The Weeknd met with Baby and he refused his offer because dude offered a ******** record deal.”
