This is where it gets confusing though.
I thought the mother and daughter were trapped forever in the Silent Hill world but were free from being haunted whereas the father was still in the normal world. How did the daughter escape the the silent hill world and manage to join her father?

I'm so excited for this movie and I don't know why. I've never played the games and I wasn't even aware of this movie coming out until last Monday. People said the first movie was a piece of ****, but I enjoyed it. Maybe it's because it's a new experience in horror films for me. I can't pinpoint what that new experience stems from, but it's there. The look and the atmosphere of the first are originally what drew me in. The characters seemed very developed as well. The trailer and sneak peak for Silent Hill: Revelation seems to be working on me in a similar fashion.

Anyway, I can't wait to see this. It's been awhile since I've been so excited to see a movie.

I'm still confused though. If Dark Alessa and Sharon were reunited in one body again at the end of the first film how did she get back out into the real world with her father?

I saw it today.

It seems like one of those movies that are so bad you like it anyway.

It felt very rushed and it was awkward in some places.

the games are much better

I've just seen this and I totally get what you mean by this now.

It's not the worst film ever but it certainly doesn't live up to the first one.

It does all feel rushed and anticlimactic. Not really scary either.

I love the environment & atmosphere of the film though, just like I did with the first one. It's what I love about Silent Hill.

And to answer the continuation from the first one question(s), yes, it is a direct sequel that continues from the first film.
