You're right they aren't on the same label but movie still got critical acclaim for Shailene and the movie did extremely well financially.

It was a big hit for ABC Family. The show pretty much put ABC Family on the map for popular teen shows. Granted, The Descendants did get her critical acclaim but the show did start her career.
