Neither Bey nor Gaga have iconic performances yet. The blood one and the BMA are clearly not

The fact that BOTH of those performances popped up in your mind, clearly they are.

Well of all the "iconic" performances that people can agree on from the past 10 years, which ones are iconic for the performance itself and not some controversial element that has people talking?

Add britney to the list and you have a point. Weather you like it or not, she is the most iconic performer of our generation. If she wanted to, she could perform just like she used to. Y'all should be happy, cause if she did she would slay all your faves.

If we are talking currently, as in 2012 and not 2003 then Beyoncé and Gaga are the best live performers. Then I would actually say Taylor Swift is up there purely because of the effort that goes into her stage shows, most people here won't have bothered to watch the Speak Now DVD but the visuals were stunning, she really tells the story.

There are some truly awful live performers in the current pop girls, I'm not going to name them because I can't be bothered fighting with their idiotic fans but they wouldn't make one round on the X Factor.

Britney was flawless back in the day but after seeing the Femme Fatale tour she has gone down, I don't think she has the drive for really energetic performances anymore.

you know that's a lie, beyonce is a great performer. That only, if you look Gaga has an iconic performance(VMA hanging) britney has 4 (Snake, strip tease, kiss, gimme more at the VMA's). What's the point in being a great performer, if your not going to have any iconic moments?

I mean Brit, obviously. But she is not in her peak, a lot has changed. I am saying more currently. The VMA's fell off, unless Gaga or Bey save it with a good show.

They don't try and the ones that do can't pull it off.

Rihanna has the potential to give amazing performances, but she opts to sound bad and do easy choreography that Jenifer Hudson could pull off.

Beyonce & Gaga are easily the best and more diverse performers we currently have.

Ke$ha & Katy just don't have it in them to be interesting on stage.

Taylor performances, even when she tries, are a bit like comic relief.

P!nk could do it if she tried, but she's lazy and thinks hanging by a few ropes every TV appearance is entertainment. Yawn.

Christina sounds like a dying cat for most of her performances but during the B2B era, she was at least interesting.

Britney could bring it back, but I think she's done.

Kelly & Adele are not a pop performers at all. They ditch the choreo and props for the more understated instruments and vocals, making it solely about the music. Though Kelly's style is a lot more versatile than Adele's.

I agree with this statement so far as there may not be one that people will always remember, but that is only due to her consistency, and so the ones people will remember will be the ones that stick out to them personally.

She's iconic because she stripped on stage, wore a snake and kissed Madonna. No one after either of these events were focused on how well she sang (!) or danced or her artistry. They are iconic for their staging, but not for her performance. And the excuse that Britney could perform if she wanted to is pretty weak. Why doesn't she want to be good at what she does then? How do you know she doesn't want to?
